Ok, in my opinion our team is pretty promising at every position EXCEPT the PG position. Battier in my opinion is a nice SF for us--best defender, I would never trade him for Hedo.

So our PG needs addressing(this has been the case all the way since T-Mac arrived).

I recommend Andre Miller to be strongly targetted for next season.

He is a pass-first PG, can score when needed, has only missed a handful of games in his entire NBA career, great at running the offense and finding that open man. He will look to set up his teammates first before he looks for his own shot. Essentially that passing PG I think our team lacks.

I think he is like the only veteran over 30 on the Philly team, and obviously Philly are focusing on their young group of players a lot and Andre is expendable. whats one of the youngest teams in the whole league gonna achieve holding on to a lone vet? so in my opinion Andre is expendable. plus there has been talk of them giving Lou Williams more minutes at PG so Andre is even less needed.

Do you guys reckon we should make a strong run at this guy? He won't be cheap coming off a career year but how many other good PG's in the league look as realistic to acquire as Andre for us? I can't think of anyone else in my head. Chauncey will be way too expensive. And if we don't upgrade our PG this summer, we'll probably never upgrade it until Rafer retires.........

Please Rockets management, PG upgrade this summer! Rafer can come off the bench.

LOL A.M is a big yes! But it will be very difficult to obtain him with his success with the 76ers

My only concern with Andre Miller is that he's actually a worse perimeter shooter than Rafer (9%??????). But unlike Rafer, he seems to understand that shooting isn't his strength. He only attempted around 30 3's last year.

I haven't watched him play enough recently, but if he's the kinda player that attacks the basket and can finish or set up others when T-Mac and Yao get doubled, then yeah, he would be ideal.

With the big two drawing so much attention, the other guys on the court have to be able to make plays. That can either be knocking down jumpers consistently or attacking the basket. They just have to do something!

Why don't you start a thread about acquiring Kobe Bryant, too?

I don't know how you missed it, but a lot of posters here have been talking about Miller. He's a legitimate solution to the Rockets' problems at PG. Getting him is another story though.

Oh did I? just asking. Cos I've been a big fan of getting Miller here in Houston and I have been watching basically every post that could talked about Andre Miller, yet I haven't seen anyone talk about him much recently on any of the current threads.

Theres been a lot of noise about getting Mike Miller around here. Apart from that NY Post newspaper thread I haven't found much about Andre. And I don't like digging half a year old posts... ;) :p

Getting him would be a hard job. But as far as I can see things he's the most realistic upgrade at PG. Who said getting any good player was easy?! especially a very good starter at the 2nd hardest spot to fill.

I don't think I can endure another season with Rafer starting with much happiness. Although if he was still our best PG next season, I wouldn't complain much, but I know loads of other posters here would.

I would definitely love to get A.M. But at what price... for bjax and maybe brooks.. sure... heck steve francis too sure.... I've been wanting Andre miller for a while now and I think with Rick Adelman as our coach a pg like Miller would be great. But again at what cost?

I would rather have Billups. Miller's salary is 9.999999 millions, and Billups is 11.05 millions. Not very different!

Billups has championship experience, which is what the rockets need the most!

I'm not really one of the guys that is truly tied to a "system", but Adelman has never had a pg like Miller. I've talked about miller since i first came on this board, but i dont think he's a system fit. More times than not, the pg is more scorer and less ball handler than in other systems. The motion or passing offense lets everyone touch, cut and shoot. If u take the ball out of Millers hand, ur kinda cutting his legs because he's a pretty good mid range shooter/scorer. I do like him, but they dont have the money to sign him anyway

I am not a big Andre Miller fan. I think Miller can help our bench scoring. But I dont think Miller can get us over the hump.

In 04-05 season, I didnt agree the Rockets should be in the "Win Now" mode. CD traded away all the craps for JB, DW, and BS and they broke down in one season and the Rockets got nothing in return. That's why the Rockets now struggle to have a bench.

But after 4 seasons, I think the Rockets need to be in the "Win Now" mode because Yao and T-Mac have probably 2-3 year window.

I am a big Artest fan. Trade BJ and AB for Ron Artest. It's a big gamble but it's a worthy one. Artest really has impact at both ends of the floor. I think Artest is obtainable and Artest's salary is manageable.

We just need to pray winnings can keep Artest's head striaght and hope Artest has respect for Yao and T-Mac. Championship inspiration and Adelman may keep him in his best behaviour.

Artest is the real deal to get the Rockets over the hump.

It would be nice if he can develop a stroke from the 3, but it's not crucial. He would be a great 6th man off the bench. He could really help give us a spark when we're in a scoring drought, and even challenge Rafer for the starting job.

Don't know how we can get him tho, we don't have players that can match his salary to give. All our guards are underpaid compared to him.

For this team, its billups and its not even close. I like andre miller, but the rockets need a shooter at that position. billups is perfect because he would add some toughness

I don't think you need your pg to be a 3 pt specialist as long as he can hit mid range jumpers consistently, which he has proven to be capable of doing all his career.

We might not be able to afford miller, and yet people here "suggest" we should try to snatch up billups. But then again boston acquired KG..

it would be a gamble, billups's contract is an issue. I just believe he is exactly what this team needs, shooting, and toughness.

btw, not a big fan of his, but I have to respect his game

He's a $10 million dollar expiring contract this year. Trading him for our feature package of B-Jax/Brooks/Picks/whatever does little to benefit them.

Andre Miller was one of the main reason's the Sixers made a push for the playoff's last year.

I don't think they would be looking to trade him unless they get somthing back

    1. He's a good player for there team

    2. He has 10 mill comming off the books
