Andre got robbed! He should have won that dunk contest. He got robbed. I think Rudy, or one of them, took down his 10 and put up a 9. Thats just wrong
Dunk Contest Did anyone else think they robbed AI on purpose there? Nate was really good, but that was total BS at the end with the judge taking down the ten for Andre.
Hmmmm, I guess maybe they wanted to do another dunk-off? But then they realized that it was too late and gave it to nate instead?
nate's spud dunk was awesome and getting to the dunk off wasn't a problem, but how in the hell does he get a 47 after he missed 13 times?! and it wasn't that awesome of a dunk. that put way too much pressure on andre after nate basically pulled a birdman. AI goes between his legs under the basket and it's not as good? come on, there's loving the little guy and then there's going way overboard. that result messed up what was a pretty nice contest from AI and nate and everyone knows he shouldn't have won. edti: yeah they probably took down the 10 (i didn't see who) just to avoid another dunk off. the results to get to the dunk off were weird as well for AI, 1 10, 2 9's, and 2 8's.
i agree, i said it in another thread. but i'll say it again. nate rob. was great but he didn't deserve that last score after 14 tries!! AI had 3 amazing dunks, and that last one should have been at least a 48.
That's why I'm having a hard time saying Andre got robbed. With the outstanding dunks tonight - particularly the one from behind the backboard and Nate's dunk over Spud Webb - that last dunk Andre had to get to the dunk off really wasn't worthy of a 10. I didn't think it was even close to a 10. If not for that call, which was rather interesting in its own right, Andre wouldn't have even been in the dunkoff.
The Birdman screws up about a dozen dunk attempts and he's a national laughingstock. Nate pushes it to 14 and he's the Dunk Champion. Life is funny sometimes.
Watching Kobe's facial expressions throughout the dunk contest was hilarious. Dude had a look of "what the hell is he doing?" when Spud came out, and one of absolute disgust when Nate won it.
Well mainly when the birdman actually got off his dunk, it was pretty mediocre. And come on its Chris Andersen, how can you not make fun of that guy? Nate on the other hand is 5-9 (like it or not you get bonus points for being short) and did an above-average dunk that was definitely something unique.
if anything andre got jipped, not the other way around. his dunk was better than a 44. no way it should've gotten 2 8's. it had to get more points than nate after missing about 8 times on his 44. i was glad to see the dunk off but if anything AI should've won it outright. and he definitely should've won the dunk off. his dunk was better and it took him 11 fewer tries. apparently being 5'9 is even more of a bonus than i ever thought it could be.
yeah its true nate needed over 10 tries.. i dont know exactly how many. but he DID finish it.. he stuck with it and finished the deal.. so i give him props for that.. andre did his in less tries, but his dunk wasnt all that great either... didnt he do the exact same dunk earlier? u lose points for repeating dunks.. either way, nate jumping over spud webb was the best dunk hands down..
Without the change, it was a tie and would have resulted in another dunk off with 10 misses a piece cause they were tired. The outcome was fine. And, the missed dunks are not supposed to count towards you score. So, you can miss 50 in a row, but if your one made dunk is spactacular, it should be a 50.
being 5'9 not only means ur 7" shorter, it also means ur arms are that much shorter as well.. length of arms is more important than height when it comes to dunking.. only someone who tried dunking in real life knows how high the difficulty factor really is.
Ya, I agree Andre got robbed in the dunkoff. You could tell even the Nate fans disagreed, but I was actually thinking there shouldnt have been a dunkoff in the 1st place and Nate shouldve won. The judges should have a better scoring system; they give 9s and 10s WAY too easy. If they give a 50 for AI's dunk in the 1st final round, then they shouldve given a 52 for nate's dunk over spud, but you cant go over a 50!!! soooo if they didnt give high scores soo easy, i bet Nate wouldve walked a way as champ and the competition wouldnt have gone into dunk contest overtime and it wouldnt have looked like someone got robbed. So Nate deserved it anyways!
The night was entertaining, funny and wierd at the same time. Josh Smith really was going to jump from that strip of tape, but after he lost the ball on the first attempt his brain froze, still, dunking from the free throw line with TWO hands on the ball should have gotten a 50.
