So, there's this girl who has managed to amass 20 thousand in credit card debt, and wants all the 'nice people' out there to 'save her'. www.savekaryn.com Scam or not, its still dumb. And of course, there are people who have taken the opportunity to offer a rebuttal. www.dontsavekaryn.com If this is real - its sad. If its fake....its still sad. I just seriously, seriously hope those 'money contributed' numbers on the site are made up. If not, that's incredibly depressing.
It's sad, but it's hilarious, too - especially the points made on the Don't Save Karyn site. Their premise is a novel one - make a statement against throwing away your money to a person who proved that she couldn't control what money she had by throwing away your money to these people who will simply spend it on a whim. If I had time to kill, it's a quick way to make money. And, on top of that, it's a quick way to see how stupid people on the Internet can be. I sure hope the numbers on the Save Karyn site are made up, because it's beyond me that people could give someone that much money.
From that chick's website: TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! You see, I'm done with my frivolous ways. I've stopped buying designer clothes. I've stopped using department store products. I decided that I really DO like Oil of Olay. It really DOES work just as well... And Old Navy is actually kind of cool... I've done my part, now I need you to do yours. I believe that this world is a good place, and if someone needs help, then they should ask for it. She has the audacity to tell other people it's their part to pay for her lavish spending.
I don't know how stupid it is if she's actually received $2,700. This reminds me of that guy who made a site to help people with small bills and things. I wish I still had that URL.
I always have a feeling that restaurants that have a tip jar in front are never empty. It gives the tipper positive reinforcement when they see a decent amount of money in the jar. 2000 bucks to donate on a person who doesn't deserve it is a lot of money. If she was really broke, wouldn't she have started off some free domain like geocities? I feel sad for all the wannabe moochers who act like idiot moochers just for the sake of a buck or two. I also feel sorry for myself for wasting my time on such a frivolous diversion. Nice ploy in reverse psychology in that dontsavekarin site though. But who wants to give two guys with lousy attitudes money?
lmfao what the hell is this girl thinking? ha ha ha this has to be the dumbest site i have ever been too
Oh man, I've got a cousin-in-law who is 15 and just got diagnosed with Krone's Disease, and has crappy insurance, and people are giving THIS GAL money? What a con artist.
Or get a second freakin' job like I did. Anyone else find it ironic that you can help her credit card debt by donating money with a credit card?
Two jobs? That must have been a pain in the ass. I wouldn't give her a dime. If you really have money laying around that you want to give away, think of all the worthy charitable causes that could use the donation instead of a vapid twentysomething who can't control her spending and doesn't want to work her way out of debt. Buy a lotto ticket, b****.
I gave her $3.00. I got at least that much enjoyment from reading the website (which is actually very entertaining).
www.dontsavekaryn.com is pure entertainment gold. Their sense of humor is a lot like mine. Random question from the FAQ: I'm with those jackasses. Karyn ain't getting a dime from me. The internet is so screwed up... I'm going to start a Super Karate Monkey Death Car site (bonus points for the reference) and ask for loads of cash. In return, I'll offer to build my own Scrooge McDuck money bin and promise a webcam viewing every week of me swimming in the money.
Still is...kinda. My part-time law firm job is pretty much a joke. I work from 8-1, my work normally takes me 30 minutes or so and I spend the rest of the time here. They absolutely love me too. Then I go home and do Swirve work all afternoon and part of the night. That doesn't even feel like a job, so it's really not that big a deal. Still wish I wouldn't have racked up $15,000 in debt. p.s. Thanks Clutch.
I actually think that domain is already taken. I wanted to register it once (and of course I know the reference, but I think it'd be unfair to the others if I just blurted it out). It's sad to me that this Karyn website has apparently generated some decent cash while my "Marry MrPaige" website didn't generate squat.
Super Karate Monkey Deathcar was, of course, a line from Jimmy James' book that he had translated into Japanese and then back into English. I miss Phil Hartman.
This isn't an exact quote from the episode guest-starring Anthrax, but it's close: Lisa: My brother Greg, he's 23 and just sold a video game he wrote to Microsoft! Dave: Ooh! What's it called? Lisa: I don't know... Super... Karate... Monkey... Death Car, or something. NewsRadio does, in fact, rule. I've used the "secret sauce" line as my .sig on other sites before. I've even ended my answering machine message with the theme from The Rockford Files before. (Didn't work too well -- I've got a cheap digital answering machine that sounds like RealAudio on a 2400 baud modem.) Thank goodness I have a TiVo and get A&E.
