Yeah. Pretty shameful. Certainly a valid point, but it looks pretty clear to me that the guy had surrendered after getting clipped by the car. So pounce on him. Hold him. It might even hurt, and I'm fine with it hurting. In fact, I hope it hurts. But the followup beating is, to me, excessive.
He didn't try to rob a storage building, they merely caught him near a storage building after he led them on a chase. He robbed a person's home. And I actually believe he got off lucky. If he had attempted to rob mine or many others houses he might have ended up dead. You play with fire, you get burned. Any criminal violating someone's property knowingly accepts the risk of being hurt or killed. So he caught a beating, so what? I'm glad to see it. Screw him.
A foot chase or a car chase? With that many cars around, looks like it was a car chase? It's probably an unwritten rule that if you try to run in a car and put other citizens in jeopardy of a crash, you are going to get beaten. btw: there seems to be a second suspect in the background. See the two late arriving cops realize they can't get in on the action with the one guy, so they run to the background, apparently to get in on something else.

At least you recognize the truth of the matter - cops have nothing to do with "justice" and everything to do with protecting the property of the middle and upper classes from people in the lower classes.
