I want to get the Anchorman dvd, but Im not sure if I want to get that bonus mini movie as well. Is it worth it? Do all the features on the regular disc the same as the $20.00 version?

    Thanks

I hear that the bonus mini movie works wonders for those that have erectile dysfunction...

There are some funny scenes in the Wake Up Ron Burgandy movie, but it's not a very good "movie." I don't think it's a deleted sub plot because the events are pretty big, it seems going into the movie, they weren't sure what direction to go so they had to main plots. When they cut "Wake Up," they narrarate it to make it seem like it takes place after Anchorman and that Ron and Veronic are married.

As the movie starts, it's just deleted scenes in the same order as scenes used in Anchorman, you got the helicopter intro, the News Team intro, the party, Veronica showing up for the first time (They try hard to make it look like she's back from vacation or something I believe). The different plot is that there's an inept radical group robbing banks and trying to get their message out, except the leader still hasn't finished his manifesto yet. These scenes are pretty funny. Again, Ron gets fired (this time for stealing veronica's lead and trying to expose the leader of the group and causing him to go into hiding right before the police were ready to nab him) so they show different takes or scenes that show him after he'd been fired. It's mostly all the same except for the new plot with the radical group.

In the specail features, it has the MTV movie awards interviews with Jim Caviezel and Burt Reynolds.

Honestly, it should have just been priced like a regular dvd 2 disc set at 18.99 instead of 2 seperate movies for 24.99 like I bought it. I don't regret buying it because there are some real funny scenes.

Oh yeah, Justin Long makes an appearence as Fred Willard's son that's always in trouble.

If you have a netflix subscription, just rent it from there. Thats what I did. I dont think its worth the extra $10, it really doesnt have any reply value than the actual movie. If you dont know anybody that has it to borrow, then, I'd suggest to go for it.

I agree. I love Will Ferrell but this movie was so unfunny. I would say rent the movie and don't buy anything. I could barely sit through it. I didn't laugh out loud one time. My brother fell asleep. All the humor was forced and pretty stupid. I don't think the mini-movie can make up for this bomb.

The sad thing is that it had interesting appeal, but just failed on so many levels. The supporting cast was weak, the storyline was lame, and the jokes just were not there. Everything was forced.....

I agree... Very hard to sit through and watch the whole thing.

I'll add my voice to the chorus of haters. I liked Ferrell on SNL, but I can't recall a decent movie he's been in. His outrageous over-acting is fine for about 2 minutes, but 90 minutes? The joke gets old before the title screen disappears. "Anchorman" sucked.

I thought it was hilarious and laughed my ass off. BUt then again I watched it on a transatlantic flight in business class swilling gin and wine the whole way so that tends to help.

No it wasnt ! You were paying attention to the overtness of it all, and missing the subtlety. The supporting cast was great with that. David Koechner and his smile during the "Afternoon Delight" song, Paul Rudd and his fighting stance that made his suit puff up in the front, Steve Carrell and almost everything he did. Tim Robbins cutting off Luke WIlson's arm, and immediately putting his pipe in his mouth and just staring. They way Christina Applegate acted.."You big silly, man...you big silly man..." Everything Will Ferrell did was hilarious. The only part I didnt like was the dog talking to the bear.
