I was browsing around and bumped into this site: http://www.beyondpartisan.org/ I personally feel they are a bit overly ambitious in creating a non-partisan forum, but the articles and posters are pretty interesting. You guys should check it out.
Nice forum that really does attempt to find a middle ground. I didn't see even a single t_j/texx style post, which is refreshing for a political site.
I think the site is pretty new, so there isn't much participation just yet. I'm kind of interested to see how it turns out once people find the site. By the articles I'm reading, I think the site has good potential.
Do they not favor lotus leaves over bamboo leaves as the standard wrappers for sticky rice dumplings?
Let's settle this once and for all... Here's a bamboo leaf: Here's a lotus leaf: Which of the two would be better at wrapping rice, huh? huh?
Bernie, it's not simply rice wrapping. I have the wikipedia on my side: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zongzi pwn3d? (I usually avert using this new age Internet jargon, but I feel I owe myself one exception.)
Great, I have to correct wikipedia too? Also, did I just get player owned in 3-dimensions? That sucks...
It would be truely nice if there could be a middle of the road party as people suggested on that site and it is no longer a two horse race every time.
single member districts winner take all electoral systems without any significant geographical or cultural cleavages lend themselves to two parties who generally are fairly middle of the road. US is a prime example of that.
Personally, I don't think a third candidate is necessary, but a third party is. That way, the candidates have to appeal to not only the base (dem or rep) but also have to make concessions to the middle. This would actually make the "Middle Party" more powerful than either of the other parties as the swing vote.
