Yes I know...really, a new thread for a trade proposal? Yes, I think something like this that would preserve our cap flexibility for next year plus give us a fighting chance to make the playoffs this year is worth its own thread.

The "ESPN Machine Approved" Proposed Trade: T-Mac and Cook for Jermaine O'Neal and Dorrell Wright.

Looking at espn today it mentioned the Heat re-signed Magloire equipping the team with a 4th center. On top of that they are in pursuit of big men like odom and boozer while currently employing haslem, blount, anthony and beasley. To me, they have a lot of bigs and will possibly have even more quality bigs in the near future. The trade involves strictly players with expiring contracts so financially the flexibility is still there. For us we add a quality big (injury-prone too but so is t-mac so who cares), who is currently "healthy". And a talented and young swingman who has fallen out of favor in miami. To me, miami is guaranteed at least boozer or odom maybe both. with tmac back for the postseason push they would have enough talent to make a push for the championship and keep wade happy: reason they would do trade. what sayest you guys?

sorry but that is a horrible idea. Oneal is washed up and we are a better faster team without him. We will get more outa T-Mac when and if he comes back this year.

Had we not gotten Andersen and were still in big need of a center, maybe. But now, no.

Also, if you want to make the playoffs, we have a better chance hoping McGrady comes back and plays well (contract year afterall) than we do trading for O'Neal.

Man I made this same trade suggestion 3 weeks ago and people still don't get it. Jermaine has an IDENTICAL contract to McGrady: 1 YEAR 23 MILLION. BOTH ARE FREE AGENTS NEXT SUMMER.

We would be trading for a player ONeal who will actually play not the myth known as healthy T-Mac.

This would still keep all our options open for 2010 summer bonanza.

andersen may turn out to be decent...but we still lack a shot-blocker with size. can anyone state the downside of this trade instead of simply replying no?

And why would Miami do this? Get rid of their starting C to start Jamal Magloire? Get TMac for what? If he doesn't play, keep in mind they're a playoff team. Jermaine is good to go for them from day 1 of the season.

And Wright is a good 3 pt shooter. Why would Miami give him up for a useless Brian Cook?

    think people

Stop all these stupid trade threads

I would rather T-mac ride the bench and let his contract expire than bring O'Neal in who will play and just kill any momentum we have . . .

and you still don't get that Miami has no incentive to do the deal.

That wouldn't help Houston make the playoffs.

I'd argue that Oneal is even more injury prone than Mcgrady.
