    "Success is not no violence"

Lowering the bar one malapropism at a time. That's a great quote btw that can be interpreted a thousand ways.

There is never going to be a nation the size of Iraq that has no violence. The United States has tons of violence, but most would say we have an acceptable level of violence (not many Americans feel we are living in an unstable society on the verge of collapse, no matter how much they hate Bush, heathens, gays, guns, p*rn or whatever else the wingnuts are hating these days).

The question is what did the chief flip flop say on this issue during the 2004 election? Truely a master flip flop and winning a election by calling others flip flops.

Our society does appear to have an acceptable level of incompetence, particularly with our CiC.

You may have a point StupidMoniker but I didn't have to worry about any IEDs or snipers heading to my train this morning.

No, but depending on where your train comes from or your station is, you may have to worry about gangs and whackjobs.

Violence is on the rise in this country.

That's true but only by means of very minor upticks after decades of constant decline, and per-capita violent crime is still at historically low levels. I'm not sure how much you think crime is increasing but overall it remains very low compared to the 80's and 90's.

This is all very true. Violent crime has been on the decline for nearly a decade.

The News is only showing Crime and violence
so . . one could infer that is on the rise

No, you don't. That is a discussion about what level of violence is acceptable though.

When has the nightly news not mostly shown crime and violence?

The saying "if it bleeds it leads" wasn't coined yesterday.

So having IED's and snipers going off every day is acceptable?
