im leaving to Amsterdam/Europe soon. so whats the best bike tour... im kinda looking to do more countryside stuff.
How long do you want to cycle? Two great option are going east(to Muiden, there is also a nice castle there) and than south allong the vecht(a river). and than back again past Abcoude. I have no idea how long this takes. You can also go to the west, and go to the coast, that is also beautifull. When are you going, If you want i can look at more official bike tours. What you also can do is go by train to a certain smaller town and do bike tours there. especially some coast times are impressive. When you go to Alkmaar by train(i think 30 minutes from amsterdam, not sure though), and than you can do tours in the dunes of Petten, that is also amazing. So what are you looking for, bike tours that you can do an entire day, or just a mourning?
thanks for the reply arno. just because im going to amsterdam doesnt mean im all im gonna do is smoke pot... i dont have to get on here to ask about pot... arg.
My firend took Mike's bike tour I think. He had a great time. I have taken the Fat Tire bike tour in Barcelona and Berlin. A hell of a lot of fun. The owner is a UT grad too. They have a third location, but it may be in Paris.
I have no biking information, but check out the Wild Style coffee shop on Oudezijds Voorburgwal. Very cool place.
i have never seen so many people riding bikes as i did in amsterdam - they seemed to outnumber cars by at least 50:1. men in business suits w/ briefcases, housewives in dresses w/ their groceries in the front basket and 1 or 2 kids in the back. i was content walking though - infact, i never even used any kind of public transportation - i walked all over that city. arno - when does the rijksmuseum finish renovations? i was there in 05 and about 2/3rds of the place was under renovations and closed - despite that, i was still there for 3 or 4 hours. that is the coolest art museum i have ever been to (it might have been the 'willie nelson' though). i definitely want to go back when it is all done.
You sure about that? Fat Tire Gig em, Gig em, Gig em, Gig em, Gig em, Gig em, Gig em, Gig em, Gig em, Gig em, Gig em, Gig em, Gig em, Gig em, Gig em, Gig em, Gig em, Gig em, Gig em, Gig em, Gig em, Gig em, Gig em, Gig em, Gig em, Gig em, Gig em, Gig em, Gig
If you are from Houston, I can definitely see how it would shock you to see more bikes than cars . If you ever make it to the German city of Muenster, the ratio might be even more extreme.
No kidding? Cool! Haarlem has some nice biking in the area. At least it did many years ago. My Dutch girlfriend gave me rides on the back of her bike a couple of times while I was there. She had the most incredible legs! I love the Netherlands. Ironic that my wife's mother immigrated from there and still spoke Dutch. I've spent months in the country, but haven't been there for a long time. I remember seeing a lot of young German tourists, SJC, a lot of them students. Seemed to be a country popular to visit.
