Did anyone here try out or know any one that tried out for American Idol at Minute Maid? What was the experience like? Did they make it to the next round?

I noticed that some people in the Chronicle stated generally that the Idol producers were not interested in talent. Then the producers stated generally that people think they're a lot better than they really are. I thought that was hilarious.

From what I have heard, PA's hear then sing first outside weeding out the "talent" to two groups: really good and really awful.
The first couple of shows each season are the really awful people sprinkled with talent.
So if you auditioned and you didn't make it in just keep in mind that while you may not be great, at least you don't really suck.

Or if you made it, there's a good chance that you really suck hard.

I always watch the 1st 2 or 3 episodes to see the people who are really horrible have the chance to have their "dreams" shot down on national television. I love it when they cry and say something like "you haven't heard the last from me!" Uh...yes we have.

I got interviewed while walking around downtown trying to find stuff to do. They thought I was trying out, and asked me to sing. I sang "High and Dry" by Radiohead, and made a bunch of gang symbols. It was amusing.

I actually quite like my voice when I'm singing in the shower. So I would never try out. I know I stink but I don't want anyone to tell me so. ;)

It is quite funny to see the people that fail really badly and come out on the newspaper saying "I have a really good voice, and I know it. My parents always clap after they hear one of my songs!"

I am such a crappy singer, but that doesn't stop me. I sing my head off in the car and EVERYBODY hates it. When I was going to california my aunt would goto sleep everytime I started singing so she wouldn't have to hear it. :D

Gang symbols are the ultimate coolness.
