I know I'm about to get flamed, but to the people that actually watched the show, how amazing was that Billy Jean performance by David Cook. Man, he needs to release that as a single.

great performance but i dont think the judges realized chris cornell did this arrangement of billie jean last year if not earlier, so he deserves most of the credit for being brave and such.

This may turn out like daughtry covering walk the line and not mentioning that he copied live's version.

David Cook is amazing he is the most talented musician on that show....I rewound it and watched it twice, and his is better than Cornell's IMHO.

I didn't know anything about that version, but it was the **** for sure. Who knew a Micheal Jackson song could be done so great. I was blown away by this version.

gotta disagree with you there...Cook's was good, especially that last note, but since hearing Cornell's version 20 minutes ago, i've been playing that over and over.

yes i think cook did as good a job as you anybody could with that rendition, but its hard for any one to match chris cornell's talent. his voice is the voice guys like cook aspire to have.

    The real winner tonight:

Man, I hadn't heard that song in ages, and it IS theme park.

For those who missed it...here it is...and in Ryan Seacrest's introduction he credits Cornell...

Daughtry did credit it, the Producers cut it out of the interview portion to make him look better.....I saw an interview where they discussed it...

David Cook still hasn’t sold me with his voice, his performances are a good cover for his so,so voice.. Cook is really good at blurring the lines with different genres of music, but he seems to be going down the same trail as Blake did last year, but this year there are stronger competitors IMO so I would guess Cook finishes no higher than 4th...

I don't like David Cook but I tell ya, that gives him the ticket for this year's idol. Brilliant!

I know, it is not just about voice, it is just as much about performance.

If you look at Dial Idol, for the first time this year, he finished ahead of David Archuletta - who has an amazing voice but has been making very poor choices in his songs lately.

David Cook is one of the main reasons I watch now....I just love what he does up there....

None of my favorites have won lately though...Blake Lewis, Chris Daughtry, and now David Cook.....
