Ah, the dysfunction continues. Any of you enjoy watching American Chopper? They're coming out with a new series where Jr. starts his own shop and competes with his dad after fighting with him and splitting up from OCC. Vinnie's back from the looks of it. Cody, too, possibly. I'm interested in seeing what Sr. puts out without Jr. around to do the design work. First episode is this Thursday (8/12) on TLC at 8pm Central. I wonder if it was staged a little bit, the show had lost a bit of ratings...... Gonna have to start watching it again now. DD
I lost interest once it became more about drama and not fabricating a unique bike. There is a HUGE amount of custom fabrication that to me was way more interesting that watching them fight like little girls. But just like any "reality show" it's the drama that apparently sells. I'll say this, Vinny is probably one of the best overall fabricators I've ever seen, Jr was smart to get him back on board.
I've been thinking that too, but Sr. and Jr. have been court. From what I remember, Jr. always had a 20% stake in the OCC. Then for some reason they worked out a new contract and Sr. put in some stipulation that he could buy out Jr. if he wanted to for fair market value and he exercised that option.
Me too... and I was just going to ask.. which side is Vinny on. He was the reason some of Jr's designs turned out as well as they did. Mikey is fun, but that's about it... he's not smart, or gifted, or intelligent, and he's really not an asset to a business. But I may have to check it out.
take rick, vinny, and jr. out of that shop, and OCC aint got ****. i think jr. was trying to be calm there, but finally had enough and lost it. having been screamed at by his own son, sr. too lost it. it`s probably better this way. and yeah, jr. is one of the main reasons that OCC took off the way the it did anyway.
Its just kind of a shame that TLC is exploiting a totally split apart family! This thing is not just about feelings and he said, he said. There are multiple lawsuits ongoing right now. I remember a time when u would see OCC t shirts and hats everywhere, now you may see one once in a blue moon. This new show might make OCC and possibly Paul Jr Designs popular again, in the case of OCC and put PJD on the map. Check out this very telling interview with Paul Jr and Paul Sr from a New York based Radio Station. Starts off calm, and you actually feel like things can be mended, then all hell breaks loose. Enjoy. http://www.supload.com/listen?s=psLnOE
I didn't know this show still came on until I saw the previews yesterday. I used to watch it, and did like the show. I guess having more channels is probably why I quit watching it. I know how stressful it can be working with family. I ended up going to another company. Have plans of working together again in the future, but only after I feel I'm ready.
Thanks for the link, rep earned. It sounds like the old man is one greedy screw job........I mean valuing OCC at ZERO so that he gets his 20% back from Paul Jr. for nothing. That is flat out funny..... If you see the house he lives in (marriage episode) you know the company is worth a lot more than zero. LOL....honestly....Money can screw up anything. DD
http://dsc.discovery.com/tv/american-chopper/charity-auction-poll.html Gotta admit I've been watching the show again, and the last two weeks saw father and son both build a bike for Cadillac. So which one would you vote for? Wish they had better pictures and video, but after seeing the episode I definitely had to go with Jr. His bike flows so much better, has really good lines and I love using the air bag to lower and park it instead of a kickstand. And man, I know it could very well just be the way they edited the show, but Sr's act is getting annoying. He talks of reconciliation one moment and is bashing his sons the next. He never has anything nice to say about Jr.
