https://www.nytimes.com/2025/04/17/opinion/trump-harvard-law-firms.html Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. David Brooks writes: What is happening now is not normal politics. We’re seeing an assault on the fundamental institutions of our civic life, things we should all swear loyalty to — Democrat, independent or Republican. It’s time for a comprehensive national civic uprising. It’s time for Americans in universities, law, business, nonprofits and the scientific community, and civil servants and beyond to form one coordinated mass movement. Trump is about power. The only way he’s going to be stopped is if he’s confronted by some movement that possesses rival power.
Where were you when Democrats across the country forced healthy people to isolate, closed down businesses, sent kids home from school, prevented families from gathering, and forced healthy Americans to take shots? Now you want to talk about civil liberties? LOL
Um, we were inside, wearing masks, and engaging in social distancing. Because you know, science and stuff.
My mini uprising is being a giant a-hole to the MAGA morons in CF. It is quite fun, but a little too easy. In all seriousness, this is absolutely correct. I have said that all private universities need to lock arms with Harvard, and all law firms must stand their ground with Susman, Wilmer Hale, Jenner Block and the like. I am skeptical that businesses will do so because economic survival is paramount and the public entities are about shareholder return. The Democrats needs to come up with a galvanizing figure who can be the face of this.
Who was President when that happened? Who was the Governor of Texas when biz shut down here? Hmm.... where was I? Hmm.. Spoiler Those pesky Dems! They even forced him to put on a BLUE tie! And take estrogen pills?! Oh lawddddy lawdy lawd
