I was introduced to a local man who is starting an initiative to replace politicians with states(wo)men. As you can read on his homepage: "We must stop all the partisan bickering." He's wanting to get young people involved in a way and he is offering cash prizes in a competition. He wants to develop a strong presence on college campuses across the nation. He's also looking for celebrity affiliations to help with publicity and fund-raising via sponsorship. I wanted to help him garner publicity. Help spread the word about http://www.America357.com to anyone you know who might want to get involved or can provide the kind of introductions he is seeking.
I'm not sure what your getting at here. I've reviewed the site and spent three hours over coffee with him. Are you just being paranoid or something? I think you probably good evidence of exactly what the problem is here in America.
I'm not that paranoid, I'm sure the site and intent is great. Bravo to your friend. Just mocking the messenger.
The site isn't great. It has no content and looks like it was designed with a 1999 version of Geocities WebBuilder 1.0.
This seems like some sort of Amway type pyramid scheme to line the pockets of Lee Schaeffer and the dubious American Merchant Network.
You know nothing of what you speak. I've spent three hours with the man. His passion is the trouble that he views this country to be in. You cheap-shot, off-the-cuff analysis is shameful. I'm sure you chortled when you wrote it... Too much cynicism in this place.
YEah a good dose of neal boortz, cal thomas, joe scarborough, lou dobbs etc as recommended by your buddy will really cut through the partisan rancor and transcend the debate, lol.
I hope this page is not representative of the ideas being propagated... http://www.america357.com/idea_factory.html
Everybody starts somewhere. I pointed him in the direction of some pre-existent groups (even a Ron Paul organization) and he declined interest. He didn't want to primarily engage some already entrenched.
No actually, coming from first hand experience having met Lee (far longer than three hours), dubious is a perfect adjective. Their so called cynicism in this is totally justified. The American Merchant Network is a failed mass marketing attempt where advertising "pays for itself", and America 357 is a failed fund raising attempt - both of which resulted in time/capital losses for the initial investors not cognizant enough to sense a con. Neither AMN or A357 had any original planning or implementation, b/c the President is a shyster; now apparently trying to reanimate a failed radio show where listeners are asked to call in and "guess" (via a contest) what A357's core values are, which ostensibly will be revealed when A357's staff (of none) get enough good ideas from contest participants. Maybe the precursor to a new Presidential election strategy? "Guess-My-Platform (I promise you're going to agree with it)" I hear Kramer from Seinfeld, on the Movi-Fone... why don't you just TELL me what you want me to say?! LOL
I looked through the website and I don't see an actual platform, just a bunch of dull bumper-sticker slogans like "The party is over!!!!" and "We the people!!!!" And yeah, like someone else mentioned, it's very telling that the "idea factory" portion of the website is.........wait for it.............a BLANK PAGE. LOL. EDIT: What do you know, they are actually SELLING bumper stickers. Who would've thunk it!!
