I can verify. They ask you to upgrade to PAID Prime

Yeah, they specifically mention "paid Prime member" so I figured Amazon Student doesn't qualify. Here's to hoping it's not that literal.

I was excited, until I saw that student Prime members aren't eligible.

Netflix Instant Watch and now Prime Subscribers??? You'll never run out of movies to watch now... That dept is now covered, and I would jump in on this too but I still have my Barnes and nobles membership, and the torrents, LOL...

    Hmm....$80 a year.

Bad move not giving it to the student accounts, IMO. Good way to build customer loyalty from jump. Most people won't be students forever.

I just emailed amazon asking if they were working in conjunction with microsoft to develop an application to stream prime content via XBOX, it seems like such a huge oversight that they did not have this ready to launch yet.

I have a friend who builds streaming software. I'll ping him when I see him online.

Yeah, I saw this but I don't have a device that supports VOD for Amazon.

Hopefully ps3 or firecore can add it on in the future. I'd prefer my hacked Apple TV to have it on Boxee.

Does Amazon have things that Netflix doesn't already have?

My buddy hasn't heard anything but says he assumes it won't be hard. He also says that Roku has Amazon VOD built-in.

Amazon just emailed me back, said they have no plans on supporting a streaming application for XBOX/PS3.

I wouldn't believe that. It's a big company. I doubt the customer support knows what the tech R&D is doing until it's out.

I browsed through their library on my TV today. Not very impressive - less than what Netflix had when it first started streaming a few years back. Not worth $80 a year, which is what it would be if you're a student. I still say that they should give it away free with the Prime for students and build their customer base.

selection is small for now but i am sure it will build up and an app will be developed.

not a big deal for me i have a prime membership i paid for and gotten full use out of the 40 or so orders i have made from amazon since i activated my membership in early december. the free 2-day shipping is sweet and no sales tax of course

I'm annoyed that streaming tv shows/movies don't come with subtitles unless they are foreign movies/tv shows. Is it that hard for companies to include subtitles for streaming????
