Surprised to not see a thread since it was heavily promoted and because the earlier movie was pretty popular. I was pretty excited to see it because I like to of the leads (Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman) from The Killing. Season 1 was really well done and played pretty closely to the movie with a few updates. The girl paying Hanna and the other two leads seemed to handle the really physical demands of their roles. Its already been announced that a Season 2 will happen (hard to see what they may actually do). After a bit of a lull Amazon Prime has stepped up their game again.
Haven't seen it in a while, but I remember really liking the movie. Eric Bana is awesome in just about everything he's in. Will definitely check out the series one of these days.
I watched the first two episodes and with the exception of an early scene in the woods where she talked with a boy and ate a candy bar the plot was straight from the film, but inferior both in acting and storytelling. Why would you remake something if you couldn't improve on it? If you aren't going to do it better, at least make it different.
I've been watching it because I enjoyed the movie. The woman from Houston playing Marissa does a fairly nuanced character, and as an old guy, I find her kind of old/hot. The girl playing Hanna and the dude playing Eric aren't bad at all.........BUT they're being compared to Saoirse Ronan, Cate Blanchett, and Eric Bana (I too find him to be a totally underrated actor). No way any of them are gonna win that battle. I just finished episode 7, and I stopped and realized I'm bored with it. It's just dragging on and on now. Maybe if you've never seen the movie, but it's hard for me to imagine enjoying the series if you've seen the movie.
I did not love the end It seemed like it did not expect a sequel season but hoped it would It left that eventuality open but . . . . . Rocket River
I rate it average and watchable. Good enough to come back for more. I like the casting of the Dad and the daughter. They do a good job imo.
Just finished the full series (22 episodes) of HANNA. I thought this show was really good. I'd give it a solid 8+/10. S1 (8 episodes) were good...but not great. It was paced and very structured. S2 was the highlight of the series. Very good story lines and antagonists. I found myself wanting to punch Sandy in the jejunum. That actress played her role really well. S3 was really good also...but felt a tad rushed...sorta like they were given the green light to finish the story but had to do it in a certain number of episodes. I'll probably re-watch this a few years down the road. It drew me in and I was attached to Hanna and Erik at first and then shifted to Hanna and Marissa.
I'll have to finish S3 at some point, it started so slow I got bored. It was decent through 2 seasons.Thanks.
