Without Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming, normally the Rockets would have ZERO chance to win a game like this. A road game against one of the better teams in the West (most people outside of Houston think New Orleans is better and will finish higher than us).

In 04-05 without T-Mac/Yao, we'd have zero chance to beat ANY quality team on the road. Same with 05-06. Same with 06-07. Pretty much the same with last year.

And yet this year we're able to do this? Against this team? Without Yao or Tracy? Truly unbelievable if you ask me. It just goes to show you how incredibly deep this team is, and it's all because of Morey. Today guys like Barry and Mutombo who normally ride the pine are major contributors in this game.

Morey probably won't be able to get a championship out of this team without both T-Mac and Yao playing competently, but to at least make the team competitive despite the loss of our highest payed player (and 2nd highest payed in this game) deserves the utmost respect out of all Rockets fans.

And to think he was new guy at this. Moreyball works.

it's the bench man. that's the key from any other year. our bench is now a strength and usually outplays most teams in this league. had we have this bench earlier on in the tmac-yao era, we would have done big things.

wafer is really maturing the last 2 games. wow. he has the tools to be a big time starter in this league.

yea, wafer plays smarter than before now, he doesnt just jack up shots, now he uses his speed to get into the paint and distribute.
If we have Brooks off the bench and has Lowry starting, our bench would be even more dangerous

i agree 100% with the op, in the second quarter the second unit was killing it and lowry, wafer, and landry closed the game out as well.

Think DM and Les would like to take a mulligan on that replacement? I know I certainly would...and I was positively ecstatic when we got Adelman, considering his past performance and all. Too bad he left his brain in Sac...

Yeah, I'd say DM has been the best GM overall since he arrived. Presti gets more hype, but DM doesnt have the financial backing he has had. Even better, we've only been to the lottery once, and they've yet to make the playoffs.

    No doubt bro.

The Rockets bench is awesome. Remember when T-mac had that 13 in 35 seconds performance? Look who was out there to close out.

    C - Yao
    PF - Scott Padgette
    SF - T-mac
    SG - Reece Gaines
PG - Andre Barrett/Bob Sura (fouled out)

    Remember that Dallas series?

    C - Yao/Deke
    PF - Ryan Bowen/Scott Padgette/Clarence Weatherspoon (WTF?!?)
    SF - T-mac/Jon Barry
    SG - David Wesley/Jon Barry
    PG - Bob Sura/Mike James

The backcourt was defense but those were some old legs, exception being Mike James.

Who could ever forget 05-06. Honestly, I can. I don't even remember what the bloody line up was that year especially since our big 2 were out for half of the year.

    06-07

    C - Yao/Deke
    PF - Chuck Hayes/Juwan Howard
    SF - Shane Battier
    SG - T-mac/Luther Head
    PG - Rafer Alston

Those were our main guns, goodness gracious that was ugly.

The transformation of our bench is the biggest reason (IMO) that we are even surviving this stretch without T-mac. I know T-mac was **** this year but regardless he has been our big gun year in and year out. Impressive what Morey has done.

I meant to say the backcourt was decent in Dallas series. I somehow cannot type what I am thinking which is the reason for my bad grammar in posts. I'll attempt to proofread even more but I usually fail. I apologize.

Yeah, we know Morey is awesome.

The team is in good hands as long as Morey is running the show.

It kind of does suck because if we had a healthy or at least last year version of McGrady, we would most likely win it all for sure.

From what I understand Morey wanted to retain JVG.

Remember the Utah series, the bench could not contribute much and T-mac assisted majority of the shots.
