ESPN article on how Amare is uncertain about Suns future. Maybe the Rockets can still get him. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4314799
Quote from Morey: Morey said he is pursuing another free agent, and hoped to announce another signing "in the next week or two." But he said the Rockets would mostly likely acquire a center to replace Yao through a trade this summer. We still have a chance
As much as I dislike Amare I'd agree that he would at least get us into the playoffs if a deal like your proposed were to go down.
No matter if he becomes a Rocket or not with quotes like these he is garaunteeing more and more that he won't be a Sun next season. I too believe we still have a chance at Amare.
Somehow I don't see Kerr trading Amare to someone in the western conference unless he can gets an unbelievable deal. T-Mac and Landry and filler don't really qualify as such
Well, Kerr just had a discussion about the Suns future where he neglected to mention Amare. The two cannot be on good terms. Kerr, too, has been a jerk to some of his players like Marion, whom he ran out of town.
Getting Amare would be better than getting Bosh. That is for sure. We would have to take Barbosa though and give up Brooks. Not sure is Amare is worth that. Amare seems to be able to develop into the sidekick on a championship team, but still do not think he can carry a team to title as Numero Uno.
Why? I would personally prefer Bosh. He isn't as lethal offensively but doesn't have the same injury and attitude concerns. He also has displayed the potential to be absolutely dominant defensively, though he never sustains it. I would be interested to know who the majority here would prefer but that's probably too redundant for a new thread.
Same here. Attitude + injuries are my biggest concerns. I was all for getting Amare as a go for broke attempt at a championship, but after Yao went down I'd rather wait for Bosh.
My sentiments exactly. I would have welcomed Amare with open arms if Yao were still active, but in a fresh rebuilding, I would greatly prefer Bosh.
Yeah me too, if we did get Amare I'd hope we could turn him around for Bosh. Sure he doesn't score like Stoudemire, but he does everything else better
Bosh seems to be like Gasol for me. He is completely a No. 2 level star and he comes off to me as soft. He is more complete than Amare right now, but he seems done and finished as what he is. Amare, though, is still young enough to perhaps learn some defense. Plus, I don't think he has ever played with a veteran or coach who will tell him shut up and just play defense. Terry might have, but everyone else disliked him. Nash plays no D, and Shaq is well Shaq. Part of this is also due to my feeling that Yao will not return at the level he was. Meaning we would need a post presence. Amare is better true post player than Bosh, who is more of the face-up KG power foward. If you still feel that Yao can be a #1 or #2 option for the Rockets when he returns, Bosh is the better fit though.
- Bosh is younger than Amare and he's been in the league a year less as well. - Neither are true posts players but I'd say Amare is more of a face-up player in comparison to Bosh. - Neither are legit number 1 options or great defenders. With all things considered (injury history, attitude, consistency etc) I'd take Bosh over Amare without a doubt. The only thing Amare has on Bosh is the bigger name.
completely agree Cab amare is allergic to D, he also struggled last year with Shaq, his best years were when he played Centre and was too fast for opposing centres, only problem was at the other he was francis/matador like....... yao will be back at some stage, i really can't see how amare and yao play together at either end of the floor
Actually Amare also has the advantage of being more available right now. There's no chance of getting Bosh this season - the Raptors are bringing in Turkoglu to try and "win" - so they aren't letting Bosh go. Amare is on dud terms with his GM - so there IS a chance of getting hold of him.
