They all played great defense last night. They kept him out of the paint and you have to do that with Amare. LOL dominate them???

He should have dominated Scola and Landry, I agree with that.

I don't think so. They are getting better at defending other powerfowards. We shall see on Friday and Saturday when they play Duncan and West. Duncan is a center though!

Amare is the type of player who thinks the greatest offensive player is the best defensive player. If he played Randolph I can guarantee you he wouldn't say this. Yeah, he should have dominated Landry and Scola, but nobody in this league can dominate Chuck Hayes.

I don't really like him, but he's thinking what every Suns fan (and probably players and coaches too) is thinking.

He should have, though. He's a beast. Our PFs...not so much so.

Chuck did a hell of a job denying Amare position down low. He had to be frustrated, as he was forced to take 18 footers all night.

I think the Suns were so wrapped up into getting Shaq touches that they forgot about Amare at times.

Yeah I posted that in the game thread (you need to repost the link). The whole article is basically AZ spin, but he was right about getting owned.

There was some good help defense going on too which was nice.

I think part of the Suns problem was trying to get Shaq involved early and often, so that he could get past his milestone. Yao did about the best you can do defensively against Shaq. It was nice to see some defense again.

Edit: I need to type faster. I absolutely agree V

he's a player that expects and wants to dominate the players that are guarding him. scola landry hayes are not his caliber of talents, obviously. who here wouldn't swap amare for any of our PFs? i don't see anything wrong with his comments. he's a great player.

it's the same mindset yao should have. he should say after the game that he should have dominated his opponent if he did not. he should feel driven to do that every game against everyone who guards him.

Haha, this reminds me of Barkley when he was on the Suns playing us:

There's no such thing as dominating Chuck Hayes.

Amare wasn't himself. In the 1st half, he didn't act like he wanted the ball and the few times he took a shot it was a jumper. He didn't attack the basket. In the 2nd half, he attacked early and got a couple of fouls but then he backed off. I'm not going to watch the game again, but this may be due to the Rockets playing the passing lanes when Nash had the ball. This was the worst and most passive game I've seen Amare play in a long time.

v3.0, maybe you are right. Focusing on Shaq could have messed up their offense and they couldn't snap back to it in the 2nd half.

Either way, fate had pre-determined the Suns were going to lose last night. They were snake-bitten. I'm glad the Rockets were the opposing team and took care of business.

I think when Shaq got it going as the first option, they were in troubles.

They became the half court team with zero fast break point. The tempo was another reason both tmac and yao played great.

Scola has contained both Amare and KG...he is an annoying defender those guys are not used to his in your face defense from the mid court stripe in ...

I don't know that I would say he contained them, but he did a better defensive job in those two games than he did in the rest of the games this season.

He also had a lot of help where the defense would show double team and then recover on both of those guys.

The key was this time it wasn't Yao doing it.

LOL...What a douch sack. I never liked him, I was glad Stevie put his forarm in his chest.

With that being said....he should have dominated anyone PF the Rockets threw out there to guard him. He's still a hoe doe
