I have seen this kid play, I was visiting family and my cousin brought up his name . Well turns out Stoudemire was in his senior class. So we went to a home game against there crosstown rivals. The place was standing room only and loud as hell. To make a long story short this kid is for reel no two ways about it. He looked like a NBA player already. This kid is an animal he blocks shots rebounds and can jump out of the gym. Granted he was playing against highschool kids , but man he is the real deal. I believe he could help a team now, beef him up some and put him in at center and stand back.
i have a friend who is a huge stoudamire believer...i like him because: 1. we wouldn't have to use the first pick to get him 2. i've yet to read that he doesn't have good upside 3. i have no doubt that if we draft him, he'll play for us
Certainly not with the #1; but I have been leaning towards us taking him at #15, if he is there instead of any SF. Why? Well, he is a beast and we still would not have one with Ming. In addition, we have enough people who can play SF especially if Rice and MoT comes back strong which would mean more time for KT at SF. Also, I am bullish on what the team is going to do next year as I am one of those who believe that we would have had a record as good as Portland. So to upend Shaq we will not have one guy as big but we well send four at him and that big toe. The guys will be Cato, Ming, Collier and Stoudamire. The instruction would be to run at all cost and play agressive defense on him with no consideration for fouls. Just like he likes to go down in the post and seal his defender, these four should do the same to him and we should send the ball into them. By running straight to that spot as quickly as they can, they would either get there before him or be in a position to get him out of position defensively. In either situation the ball should be sent it to increase the possiblity for fouls. On the defensive end I would start impeding his progress from half court to reduce the chance for him to quickly get to that low post spot. We can always get another SF in the second round.
NBA scouts have been buzzing about Amare's skills since his junior year. His body is NBA ready. Good size, amazing hops, and very coachable. Team him up with Eddie Griffin, and we might have an awesome frontcourt someday. Remember, in the West you need someone to push around Malone, Webber, Duncan, McDyess, and Brand. Amare has the strength to stay with those guys. Not to mention he can learn to clean the glass, block some shots and do the dirty work. All this goes back to being good or great. Amare was supposedly more impressive than both Curry and Chandler, and was said by many to be Kwame Brown's equal.
Dan Gadzuric,Felipe Lopez, Kwame Brown all looked nba ready against high schoolers, but look what happened. I think after the Brown drafting of last yr, teams will be hesitant to go number 1 for a high schooler. Lebron James and Perkins are suppose to be the truth we'll see if they go number 1 next yr.
