Who else thinks we should pick him up next draft. He's got the strength to be a future center and he'll be a project so he won't interfere with others playing time.

I haven't seen much of him so I will not comment but I have seen some other posters saying not to draft him.

He's an athletic dunker at this time, no more. He won't be a center in this league - he doesn't have the bulk for it. Essentially, he's like Griffin without the inside-out game yet. Not worth the pick.

He sounds like he has great potential but we cant use another project like OT, TMO. or Dan Langhi. We need someone to make a difference now.

I second that. We need a player that is going to impact us up front now we have dealt with too many projects, some worse than others, but now we need an impact player.

I disagree. Stoudamire looks like a stud.

    Francis/Mobley/Griffin/Stoudamire/Cato.

    I have a suggestion/request.

It would please me greatly if everyone who expresses a strong opinion about a specific player's talent prefaces said statements with an estimation of how much they've seen him play. (Specificaly, the statements of mfclark & nomar, not to name names, or make any accusations. It'd be helpfull in for shaping my opinion)

Me? I've never seen him play. If true, I think the statements about his agressive, 'will-to-succede' football-like attitude would be something that I'd like to see more of. But, they said the same thing about Cisse last year.

Frankly, one of the only picture I could find:

Left me a bit less than impressed of the 'big, strong physical specimine' I'd heard so much about. He looks more like Shawn Rooks than Shawn Kemp here.

BTW The site where I found this is new to me and I got such a laugh from it. It's www.sportscensus.com and it has scouting reports and rankings of the top 6th graders in the nation! On the plus, it also has a few short little Quicktime video clips that are kinda intresting. (Not of Stoudamire, though)

    Per Ottoman's request.

I usually try to express the level I've seen someone unless its from a bigtime school who most college absketball fans have seen.

I haven't seen him. I was making a general statement.

I've seen a couple of full games and highlights nearly every night on the local news. The kid has the bulk and the athleticism, but unlike a seasoned collegiate player, he doesn't have the basketball skills yet. He plays the game and it all comes naturally to him. Definately is a fierce competitor and perhaps better than the HSers that came out this season.

Yet, he is still very raw. Still rounding out his personal life and still rounding out his game. Not a center in the league; probably a PF. With Griffin and Taylor, I don't know if the Rockets could use a player like Stoudemire.

It sounds like he's a bit better than Cato, more like a Ralph Sampson since he sometimes brings the ball down the court, (cough cough).

Otto, is he the guy in the blue or the one in black and white falling down?

The one in the blue. He's a nice physical specimin, but the game isn't there yet - especially if he has to play PF, which looks like his position in the NBA.

At 18, Stoudamire may not be able to play the NBA 5. The question is whether he can at 25-35. He appears to have 20 lbs advantage on EG at the same age.

BTW, do you care to guess what Dream weighed when he entered UoH? 210 lbs or thereabouts. Dream easily added 40-50 lbs to his frame as he filled out. Stoudamire (as well as EG) may likewise fill out.

He may very well fill out, but I still think he would be better suited at PF. He's an awful lot like Shawn Kemp in many ways, including style of game, frame, and size.

Well, I had a chance to check out a little of Stoudamire last night in the McD's Slam whatever contest.

He certainly is a physical specimen, no doubt. Very fluid and athletic.

The commentators mentioned that Amare sees himself as being a cross between, you guessed it, KG and Webber  , so we'll see how he does in the AS game.

    Very interesting prospect.

Amare certainly has the physical tools.

For those who missed, Stoudemire was INSANE in the dunk contest, even though he lost (because he missed his Dr. J dunk-he truly took off behind the line, but hit back iron).

This was a 6'10'' 250 lb. guy doing the T-Mac between the legs reverse dunk. That was some of the sickest athleticism for a big man with some power on him I've ever seen.

I still want to see how it translates in a game, and if he has any low post moves, or a shot.

To me, he didn't look like he was taller than 6'10'', or long like EG or KG, but it's hard to judge based on TV.

I could very well see a pre-Klump Shawn Kemp in him.

If NBA scouts agree with you, Stoudamire becomes a top 5 pick.

The questions begs whether the Rocks would draft "the next Shawn Kemp" with their pick (assuming they would play him as a 4/5 and deal the congestion at the 4 2 years out).

    I am betting yes.
