Im sorry but i have about had it with the media and there love of amare over yao, this borders on rediculous. Since his rookie year all the media talk all the awards(ROY) have gone amare's way over yao. i admit that when amare was poring in 26 a game before he got injured he was better than yao but his selection to the first team over yao really burns me. I admit i wasnt overly impressed with yao in the postseason but he was above and beyond the best center in the regular season and im beggining to believe that there is defenitly an element of racism going on in terms of amare always getting the uperhand over yao....what do you guys think should yao have been on the first team or am i out of my mind?
if hes eligable for voting i dont think games played should fall into consideration, if he played enough to get the second team he played enough to make the first
Yes, Missing 30+ game should disqualify you from the first team, and I am a big Yao Ming fan. Shaq should not have gotten the first team last year either.
I agree with 2nd team selection. I think it acknowledges that he played extremely well, but I do think 1st team should be reserved for someone who misses no more than 5-10% of the season.
Amare played all 82 games which is amazing for a guy coming off of that type of knee injury. I'm ok with it.
so than how does shaq make the first team last year? (another reason i think the nba has a conspiracey against yao )
its ridiculous....its a publicitiy thing.....Yao is the best center in the league...every coach, player, and fan knows it...
I saw this and if Yao wasn't injured, this would be a no brainer, but still, Amare...give me a break...
P.S. i ran into amare about a month or so back in a cvs pharmacy in westwood the night before one of those sunday suns lakers games and hes just not that nice a guyi tried getting his attention and he dint even aknowlage me...so add jerk to the list of reasons he shouldnt be over yao for the first team
This would be a legit debate if Yao wasn't injured. IMO media, especially ESPN, does favor Amare over Yao, but Amare was deserving of 1st team this year and Yao was deserving of 2nd team.
sorry ill shut up soon but i had to get one more in....how does shaq get 3 first place votes even this year? in my opinion whoever gave him said votes should be removed from voting next year, seriously the nba should have some standards on which journalists get a vote, if your voting for shaq you havent watched any regular season basketball in the last two years...okay ive said my peace...proceed
Yao hasn't won enough games for a 1st team consideration. These titles also factor in team performance with overall individual performance. I like Yao, but I try not to overrate him.
2nd team is almost generous for a guy that missed that much time. Really no reason to be upset. He plays 70 games, it's his. Evan
everybody already knows what I think about, probably from yesterday. that's like saying if Michael Redd played the whole season that we would get nod over somebody like Kobe or D_Wade, if they only played 65-55 games. That's ridiculous...besides the Suns are still well-oiled machine without Amare and still contender, but the Rockets are not quite as good without Yao.
I agree with the vote of Amare being first team over Yao. that said, these votes are done before the playoffs, I thought. And everyone agrees the Suns are where they are because of Steve Nash, not Amare who if anything is the 3rd most important guy on that team.
