win debate after debate but since he is a white male gets less and less run from the media. Look I am 100% behind McCain but I am watching the dem closely because if Mr. McCain does not get the nomination I will be a free agent.

I just think Edwards is the best out of those three (I liked Richardson but he is out) and I think if the dems had Edwards at the top of the ticket in 2004 he would be president.

I agree that Edwards would win a national election.

I feel the same about Obama.

Maybe if he didn't suddenly change into angry white populist male, people would buy it. The way he made fun of Hillary for crying was stupid.

Man he is up against it, you have a guy who is half black and a woman of a former popular president to compete with. There has never been someone who is up against it more than Edwards imo.

Look at the republicans they all get bashed/praised at some point, Obama is the golden child of the media (who is saying anything negative about him?)and Hillary while there is hate out there for her gets tons and tons of free media.

The fact that Edwards is a white male has nothing to do with the lack of media coverage. He is being basically ostracized by the mainstream media because he delivers a strong critique of corporations and he's an economic populist.

You really don't think being a woman or being african american lends itself to more free media?

On the night of Iowa Hillary and her third place finish got 10 times the media coverage that Edwards got.

I don't support many of these issues all three of these senaters support but out of the three John Edwards seems to "get it" when he talks about outsourcing of jobs and a shrinking middle class.

Nothing wrong with what he said, it's the truth.

What is wrong is dumb americans, look at Michigan McCain told them the truth about the auto industry and Romney told them some bs they wanted to hear and he got more votes.

I voted for Edwards in the '04 primary, but was disappointed by his performance during the campaign. I just don't see what he's done to make me support him this time. I'll probably vote for someone else. And the troop pullout in Iraq? I want them out, but saying flatly that they'll all be out within a year of Edwards being elected President and the bases closed is just ludicrous. Edwards is either being irresponsible or not telling the truth. You folks can decide. I think he's not telling the truth. Haven't we had enough of that with Bush's "foreign policy?"

    Impeach Bush.

I understand the sentiment, but the media bias is definitely there. I think gifford's point is valid too.

that's the point every president has been a white male so of course the media is following Hillary and Obama closer than Edwards and providing much more free media.

I like Edwards a lot but every time I see him now he is giving the same speech. Not the same theme, the exact same speech, word for word. You are a wordsmith (lawyer) John, speak off the cuff.

White male presidents I have known:

JFK - Pure inspiration and leadership, but if he hadn't been shielded by the press in those days, his alley cat dalliances would have made Clinton look like a saint

LBJ - expansion of Viet Nam and colloquial bullying of congress overshadows his efforts for civil rights.

Richard Nixon - paranoid political trickster

    Gerald Ford - doesn't count

Jimmy Carter - universally reviled as an ineffective micro manager

Ronald Reagan - reformed democrat like a reformed smoker, hollow headed spokesperson, spent the nation into massive inflation

George HW. Bush - unmemorable in any respect as president other than his one quote.

Bill Clinton - blew his own legacy with blowjob

George W. Bush - witless figurehead for the the most autocratic regime in American history

If only Barbara Jordan were alive today. We could elect a black, a woman, an inspirational orator and a competent politician.

Pretty good, Dubious. I especially like the last one. Ms. Jordan was truly a great American. I wish she was still with us. Where have all these people gone? Why are there a dearth of leaders like Jack Kennedy and, while quite different in a lot of ways, Barbara Jordan? Do the exceptional people of this country shy away from running for office due to the media spy mindset that didn't exist for JFK? Or Ike, who had a lover during WWII? The press knew about both and didn't consider it worthy of reporting. It was their personal life and that was considered personal, not public. I miss those days.

    Impeach Bush.

    Ammend:

George HW Bush - I forgot, he actually did a masterfull job with the first invasion of Iraq. I couldn't see how he could possibly lose re-election.

    A Trial Lawyer???
Thats exactly what we need in the white house! Hate to break
it to Edwards but his class warfare jargon and anti-business
rhetoric will drive more jobs away from this country.

He can back the unions, full healthcare, and allow the trial
lawyers to go wild and what we'll be left with is a failed
    business and economic model.

At least Barack Obama admits that private solutions are
    better than government ones.

Edwards is the worst possible candidate for president.
