...apparently Hillary is too blind to see: [rquoter] ARLINGTON, VA — U.S. Senator John McCain made the following statement today: Senator Clinton said that believing General Petraeus' testimony requires a 'willing suspension of disbelief.' I think it willingly suspends disbelief to not repudiate an advertisement run by a radical left wing organization that impugns and dishonors the integrity of a man who has served his nation with dedication all of his life. If you're not tough enough to repudiate a scurrilous, outrageous attack such as that, then I don't know how you're tough enough to be President of the United States.[/rquoter] http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=YzZjNTgzZDZiOTBjZTdhNmY4ZWMwYWEzOWU1ZmFjZDY=

TIMES GIVES LEFTIES A HEFTY DISCOUNT FOR 'BETRAY US' AD By CHARLES HURT Bureau Chief September 13, 2007 -- WASHINGTON - The New York Times dramatically slashed its normal rates for a full-page advertisement for MoveOn.org's ad questioning the integrity of Gen. David Petraeus, the commander of U.S. forces in Iraq. Headlined "Cooking the Books for the White House," the ad which ran in Monday's Times says Petraeus is "a military man constantly at war with the facts" and concluded - even before he testified before Congress - that "General Petraeus is likely to become General Betray Us." According to Abbe Serphos, director of public relations for the Times, "the open rate for an ad of that size and type is $181,692." A spokesman for MoveOn.org confirmed to The Post that the liberal activist group had paid only $65,000 for the ad - a reduction of more than $116,000 from the stated rate. A Post reporter who called the Times advertising department yesterday without identifying himself was quoted a price of $167,000 for a full-page black-and-white ad on a Monday. Serphos declined to confirm the price and refused to offer any inkling for why the paper would give MoveOn.org such a discounted price. Citing the shared liberal bent of the group and the Times, one Republican aide on Capitol Hill speculated that it was the "family discount." "I'm surprised they had to pay anything at all for the ad," the GOP staffer said. "They could have just asked the editorial page to run it and it wouldn't have cost them a cent." churt@nypost.com
After this, any liberal who says that Fox News is biased ought to be forced to put their head in between Hillaroid's two fat thighs. The NY Times has lost any shred of credibility that it ever had. Not that it had much, after being proven to print lies from the likes of Jayson Blair, etc.
Why does Fox News come into this? I saw McCain say something about war, the Times ran an anti-war advertisement, and Fred Thompson has a video that doesn't play.
the Times' gave Moveon a special discounted rate, on they refused to extend to the SwiftVets, for instance.
And anyone who says that Fox isn't should have their head forced between McCain's. I nominate you for the first go. I don't see you condemning Bill O'Reilly's lies, shill.
I think America judged that for themselves. And guess what -- they sided with the Swifties. Look at the results. Never in the history of political ads has an ad been that effective. And of course they were not lying. Forbes Kerry did in fact carry a video recorder with him to 'Nam to tape himself, did in fact LIE in front of Congress, thereby slandering the troops, and did in fact embellish three minor superficial wounds so that he could escape 'Nam on a technicality. Yeah, some war hero. But in your book, slandering a Four Star General with a full page ad in the New York Times is A-OK. WOW. The libs have so little cred, it's amazing. Their partisan rancor is flying in their face bigtime. Expect to see Hillaroid destroyed on this topic in the general. Just warning you now...
moreover, the swiftvets have challenged JFK, WB (wannabe) to disprove their claims in a court of law. JFKWB not only declined, but allowed the statute of limitations to lapse.
Of course the Swift Vets were lying, that's not even open for debate. The opinion of the electorate is hardly evidence of anything, other than the ignorance of the average American. Unless you want to look at the results of that opinion, which is our current president. Damning. Quit discussing veterans' affairs, you don't deserve to live here, much less comment on the opinion of veterans. Get back to raping your sister or making moonshine or whatever it is mouth-breathing redneck conservatives that couldn't be bothered to join the military do.
Back to the WWII analogies when it suits you, eh basso? Was 'Saving Private Ryan' on this afternoon or something? Where's the Vietnam one for Westmorland, or have you decreed that today Vietnam is not a suitable subject for discussion? Your ability to selectively dice facts and cherry pick bits of history out of context when it suits you is amazing. Tell me exactly how much you know about Eisenhower besides the fact that he was President after being Supreme Allied Commander in Europe?
Dorothy, we all know that Swift Vets was nothing but bull**** designed to sway the opinion of hillbillies. The rhetoric was clearly effective, as evidenced by you, but that doesn't mean what they were saying was true. Anti-Americans like the Swift Vets and their supporters don't deserve to live here. That, of course, includes you.
crums... I know what you're saying, but I must disagree. Of course they deserve to live here. They should spend the rest of their lives as objects of ridicule and as lessons for future generations, but they do deserve to live here.
