I don't know I saw many calls that were incorrect against us. I have to ask am I a homer or did we just get robbed? If I was able to I'm sure I could put a video together to show this. Your thoughts? If this has been posted already go ahead and lock. I have not seen such a thread.
I guess I broke out my broom too soon. Stealing a game in Portland was something I knew we could do.... We did it. In the end that will make the difference.
The refs had a great chance to make up for some of those blown calls by recognizing that Rudy tripped over himself. That wouldn't have made up for everything and I'm not blaming the loss on that one play when we did so many things poorly, but it would have been nice to get that one last shot we deserved.
It's hard to get that call when the refs know that we're fouling to stop the clock.....it's almost automatic whistle.
I was fairly dissapointed with the officiating, because it had a significant effect on the game. Missed/Blown calls I saw: 1.)The loose ball foul on Aaron Brooks when Blake threw a football style block on him as he scrambled for the ball in the fourth 2.)The star treatment foul on Shane when he had a clean block on Roy in the final seconds 3.)The call on Lowry when Rudy fell over and Blake through the ball straight out of bounds in the final seconds of the game 4.)No technical on Oden after shoving Yao 5.)The play where the ball was thrown into Yao and Oden jumped over his back and knocked it away 6.)The missed goaltending call on a Wafer breakaway drive. 7.)The foul by Oden that ended Dekes career which was called on Deke. 8.)The loose ball foul on Yao when Joel flopped to the ground. 9.) A blocking foul (star treatment) on Yao when Roy drove into him, initiated all the contact, then got blocked. 10.) Foul on Shane after Roy misses a jump shot and just falls to the ground. Overall I wasn't pleased with the way things were officiated last night.
Wow, that was an excellent list. Rep points for you. I remembered every play in detail when you listed them but wouldn't have been able to do so without rewatching the game. You reminded me of another: When they hit the rim after Lowry made an incredible power move through two defenders and layed it on the glass. It was going in until somebody hit the rim.
I don't remember that one specifically, but I know there is one more I am missing that I can't quite recall. Oh yea, there was a long rebound off a three where Yao was sandwiched between Joel and Roy and the ball ended up in Roys hands with a foul on Yao. That one was kinda iffy though.
Wonder what a bullet style list would be from the Blazer's point of view. Probably a few of the Lowry drives that got him to the line(didnt see the first 3 quarters so not sure) and then maybe Roy's layup where he hit Yao's vertical arm??
Damn...I had told myself that I wasn't going to blame the officials, and I thought it was just a terribly called game from both sides... But every single complaint on that list is justified. The only one that's even really questionable is Fernandez falling down...I thought maybe Lowry tripped his feet up a little. Still a pretty ugly list.
You need to check out the replay if you get a chance. It's sickeningly clear that Rudy's right foot hit the back of his left calf, i.e., he tripped himself up. I'm not saying it's impossible that I missed something but I DVR'ed it and have watched it several times now in slo-mo. It was a blown call even though it was a very difficult call given the speed of the play and the fact that the refs knew we were about to foul. I would have loved for us to get the final shot... and of course hit it. Assuming we hit a 3, we would have ripped the hearts out of every Blazers player and fan in the arena. It would have been a legendary comeback in honor of Deke.
There was another call where the ball went out of bounds off the Blazers, initially they gave the ball to the Rockets, but one official changed the call. The replay clearly shoed the ball off the Blazers. Late in the game, I thought the Blazers went over the back of Scola.
there were so many calls that went our way early in the game... i don't think we were robbed. if the blazers lose that game the refs would have cried the same thing. and since I was watching the nbatv broadcast, I only heard the calls in which Portland could complain about.
this is ridiculous. Yeah, a lot of blown calls.. but the Blazers would have just as many complaints. The officiating was consistent, though poor in multiple ways (overly controlling yet still missing calls). IMO, neither team really benefited heavily over the course of the game. Maybe you could argue that the Blazers got more bad calls in their favor down the stretch, but on the whole, it was close enough to even.. look elsewhere for assigning blame
