He has turned the Clippers into a team that no one wants to play. They will likely end up doubling their win count from last year! They are the most competitive team in the entire league. No team works harder than the Clips. Their only problem is their extreme youth. The Clips have played 12 overtime games this year, and lost 10 of them. That shows that they are a very competitive team, with just a few experience problems. I like Rudy and Larry Brown, but what Alvin has done is quite amazing.

Give the man his due, NBA.

The clips the most competitive team in the league? whatever. I would probably give that title to the team 28 games ahead of them in the standings, the san antonio spurs.
The fact that those guys play really hard is great, but it still doesn't change the fact that they have another 50 loss season.

The Spurs are the best team, but they do not play as hard as the Clips. Last year, if the Clippers were down early, they would give up. This year, they have learned to battle back. Nearly all their losses are close. They have 50 losses because of lack of experience. They had 67 last year because of lack of trying.

I agree, ZRB. I think Gentry at least deserves consideration. The Clips got some talent, but talent's not everything, especially when they're all so young. I respect the Clips more now, and I would like to see them continue to improve while watching their L.A. counterpart decline.

I agree that Gentry has done a very good job, but I couldn't even consider him for coach of the year because the team still has a terrible record (by any standards other than typical clipper standards). I would rather give coach of the year to someone who has done a good job, with a good team. Larry Brown is at the top of my list, along with Rick Adelman.
