I would like to know what everyone on this site thinks is the best way to use our cap space if Webber doesn't come to town. A. Davis, Jackson, Patterson? ------------------
Davis. He fits our game plan perfectly. Good rebounder, scorer, and defender. ------------------ Never Underestimate the Heart of a Champion
I still think a trade for Shareef Abdur Rahim would be nice. ------------------ WIN NOW! The Protrolls.com message boards! Hey, I've got posts now! Feel free to join in the trolling fun!
I heard recently that Davis wanted the Max. I don't think he's worth it and i don't think the rockets are willin to pay him that much. ------------------
Now Kevin Garnett, ..HE deserves the max. The only player right now imho who deserves the max. ------------------ It's my way or the highway!
What are the odds that someone gives Davis the max? If the other teams realize that he is not worth that, is it possible we could get him at a competitive price? ------------------ Give me ambiguity or give me something else. Someone will offer him the Max, someone in . . . Chicago perhaps? I like Davis, he'd be a good power forward, but I don't think he'd be worth what he'll be asking. ------------------ Founder and President of the Houston Homers Club(HHC) - Are you a homer? Join now! asking and getting are two different things. mo asked for a max deal...i don't see him getting one in the near future. davis won't get a max deal. ------------------
Davis wouldnt be bad, but I'm with ZRB on this one. Shareef would be a good consolation prize if we dont get Webber. ------------------ "I may be mistaken, but I'm never wrong" -Barkley
I think we should keep some of that cap space and use it to land Vince Carter next year. ------------------ Founding Father of the Refs Suck Club
You know, before the season started, I would have been all for Vince. But now, I don't know. Don't get me wrong, the guy has talent. I just haven't see much improvement in his overall game. I'd rather the Rocks get Pierce or Reef than Vince. ------------------
Would you rather have Keith Van Horn or Shareef Abdur-Rahim? Clutch posts that a source told him the #18 pick worries the Rox, basically cause that means it must be somehow dealt away, unless it can help us move up to draft top 10. Oeilpere posts to keep an eye on New Jersey. Personally, I'd rather have SAR than KVH. So if we get KVH, make the trade 3-way. Who would you rather have? SAR might be a better fit. A little overpaid, both of them, but each can get you 20 and 10. ------------------
20 and 10 from the 3 spot (or would KVH play the 4?) would be worlds better than what we got out of Shan and Walt this season...I say go for it, even if their price tags are a little steep. ------------------ Give me ambiguity or give me something else. When its all said and done, I think Davis will get around 7-8 mil a season which is fair for him. It only makes sense to ask for a high figure and then if necessary come down from there. Lots of players ask for a high figure then end up settling for much less. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
Rahim and Jackson would be nice but lets just hope we land Webb. ------------------ President of the Steve Francis, Jamal Crawford,Larry Hughes, and Charles Woodson fan club.
If Vancouver tries to make us take on Reeves in addition to Rahim, I would be against that deal even if all the other options dont materialize. Van Horn is a good player when healthy and really fits this system, but there are two huge question marks involved.... KVH has missed half a season due to injury twice already in his young career, and he makes the max salary. Thus, the Rockets would really have to be unloading some bad contracts (Kelvin Cato) to make this work. NJN possess something that Houston is eyeing though, a top 7 draft pick. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net
The question is: Do Reef and Reeves = Walt, Cato, Los, + Pick? I say yes. ESP if hakeem leaves. A big Stiff like Reeves is still adequate [if over paid] C - Reeves, Collier PF - Moe KT SF - Reef, Langhi, Bullard SG - Mobely, Colson PG - Francis, Moochie Still got picks and still can pick up a GOOD Free Agent. [READ PF or C] I'd do the Deal!! Reeves is over paid but not Ass Horrible Rocket River ------------------
Is Vancouver still interested in trading SAR, even though they're moving to Memphis? Rocket River, the Griz would have to be the pretty dumb to let go of SAR in that deal. Remember we already owe Van. a first round pick for the Francis trade, and it would probably take all 3 picks for them to bite on the deal, especially if they're taking Walt and Cato off of our hands. ------------------
We've been through this before, but the reason why a trade for Reef and Big Country isn't worth it is not because Big Country is overpaid but because combined, they take up over $20 million in cap space. Rocket River, with the trade you've outlined, I don't think there'd be enough cap room to re-sign Mo even, forget about another PF/C free agent. Taking on Reef and Big Country essentially kills all flexibility the Rockets have with changing their roster, because with those two contracts, they'll have no cap room for several years. The question is, do you think the addition of Reef and Reeves is all it will take to make a championship contender? If not, then it's not worth it, because you're stuck with them for years. People have been talking about Reef and Marc Jackson a lot, but personally, I'd pass on both. Reef is a great player, but I don't think he's worth what it would take to get him. Since it seems that Issel is staying with the Nuggets, I'd like to see if we can't pull off a trade for LaFrentz since it seems that Issel is very willing to part with him. ------------------
