Okay i just passed by the TV here at Live and i see the Lakers game and they have yet another alternate jersey on. That's probably like their 30'th different uniform in the past few years. I understand they do it to make more money when they sell the jersey's etc but don't you think there should be a limit to how many different jerseys they can come up with and wear? What happened to some kind of set uniform. Everytime i turn on a tv a team is wearing a jersey that is not anywhere close to the jersey's the originally have. I can Understand a teams Home, Away, Alternate, and Throwback...but when teams go into having 7 or 8 different styles in one year that is going a bit crazy in my opinion.
I think mostly cause they know the fans that want the jersey's will keep buying new ones each time they get a new one...i mean who wants an outdated jersey..something new is out...you know people will buy it....just getting way out of hand in my eyes.
I hate the Fakers, but if the Rockets did this I think it would be kinda cool... the more the better to me...
corporate whoring is not an uncommon thing. In fact the only whoring that's illegal in the US is prostitution.
yeah it seems like lakers rarely play in the real uniforms anymore. of course i'm just pulling that out my a$$ but it does look like it. i don't really have a problem with that other then my intense dislike of the fakers but it would be cool if the rockets had like 40 uniforms.
I agree it's a cash grab, but it's also one that has been staving off the luxury tax for years. These alternate/throwback jerseys are bringing in millions. Technically, Tuesday's game was a "throwback" game, and LA's jerseys were throwbacks, it's just that the Celtics never changed their jerseys.
That's unfortunate because I think the Celtics have quite possibly the ugliest uniforms in the league. They should get a brighter green or something; they look so old. Hey what do I know eh, I thought the '96-'03 Rockets jerseys were one of the coolest ever. I still love those jerseys.
Dunno if I can get behind that. That's why I like the Bulls and C's unis so much -- simple, unchanged for years. I had a tongue-in-cheek joke in an article I did on the Celtics earlier this year that was completely mangled and came off as a request that they change their uniform design. It'd be nice if the Sixers dropped their scheme and went back to the basic red/white/blue. And if in a few years we start to see the kids wearing the Rockets pinstripes as a "throwback," then it's time to start bathing with the toaster.
Personally I think all these "retro/throwback" jerseys are stupid. I dont get the whole retro thing. I mean they look god awful...yet we put them on now and they are cool? I will never understand "fashion" And didnt we use to have something like 1 or 2 retro games a season? Now it seems like there is one every 2 weeks! As for "alternate" jerseys. I think those are cool. Just only wear them a few times a year so those times are more special.
I hit NBA TV on INHD last night and wondered the same thing. I just don't see too many people buying the uni they were wearing last night. Yo Stack, I have to come visit the bar soon. I went there for lunch on a Wednesday last month, sat outside eating and drinking. Had a great time.
