I just read this article on yahoo sports, Alston seems pretty happy. For some reason it just pisses me off. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_y...OQvLYF?slug=ap-magic-alston&prov=ap&type=lgns Alston on the Magic:“To go to a contender, I had a smile from cheek to cheek, from ear to ear when they told me I was coming to Orlando,” Alston said before making a hurried debut against Charlotte on Friday night. Alston's thoughts about being traded:“I thought maybe they would do it in the summer,” Alston said when asked if he expected to be traded. “But Brooks is good. I love the way he plays and attacks the game. You can’t get mad at an organization that wants to improve or look forward to the future. At some point it was going to happen.” Alston talks about his new teammates:“I watch them all the time,” Alston said of his new team. “I’ve played against them and I know what they like. Rashard can post on the block and step out and shoot the 3. You know Dwight is a good lob catcher and you want to give him the ball deep in the lane. And the rest of the guys are great shooters. It’s exciting.”
why in the world would it piss you off? what do you want him to say? "damn, i hate this trade. i wish i was still in houston." good grief.
I'm happy for Rafer. Although I'm glad he's gone, I wish him the best at Orlando. I will always respect the guy for his professionalism.
Trust me, I was grinning from ear to ear reading that as well. Now we don't have to worry about our PG going 1 of 9 from the field.
He wasnt saying we werent a contender just that he is glad he got traded to one. I think it shows how classy the guy is to talk about his backup like that. He's a good guy. Im sure he has nothing but good things to say about Houston, he understands its a business.
I would be excited too! He gets a chance to essentially be in another Houston-like model. A beast manning the 5 (Yao/Howard), lots of 3 point shooters (Barry, Wafer/Turk, Lewis). What's not to like? Plus, the Magic's chances of playing for a ring in the weak East is a lot better than playing hard games in the West.
“I thought maybe they would do it in the summer,” Alston said when asked if he expected to be traded. “But Brooks is good. I love the way he plays and attacks the game. You can’t get mad at an organization that wants to improve or look forward to the future. At some point it was going to happen.” Well...even he knew Brooks was better than him lol...
I'm happy for Rafer. He got crucified by the fans here, and this an opportunity for a fresh start for him. At least for a few weeks, he can know what it feels like to be really appreciated by the fans.
Well I'm happy for Rafer, he was truly underrated and under-appreciated as a Houston Rocket. He is playing for a system where in my opinion he is better fitted there. He does belong in a run and gun team, he is capable of playing grind if out halfcourt offense, but his best asset is actually run and gun.
I'm glad for Rafer. Sounds like this trade was good for both teams. Classy of him to complement Brooks.
Good for him. I always feel for a guy that gets traded from a playoff team to a non contender. I actually think Morey has gone a little far in talking about how much the Rox have upgraded the position. I like the trade, but he could have just let it go at " Wanted to get younger" " Wanted to get Brooks starter minutes" . Not a big deal, but you wanna handle things as classy as possible.
his job in orlando is easier. howard is easier to feed and better at clearing up his bricks. and they're in a better position to win. i would be happy too.
Actually, I think it shows some class ... better than what Morey did. I'm glad he was able to go to a contender too, but like the trade. Good timing, now that TMac is out.
You would have thought the Rockets won multiple championships with Alston at the point. Time to move in a different direction. Brooks has a 2 to 1 assist to turnover ratio so obviously the turnovers tonight were an aberration. Good luck to Rafer, but some of these people act like we just traded away the greatest PG in the NBA.
I'm happy for him... How cannot be happy if he was traded to a team that has a better chance to win a ring?
Worked out for all sides. Brooks gets to point. Alston went to a team that doesn't need his scoring, just dishing and ball handling. Downside is he's not great on the fastbreak or hitting the 3 consistently. Houston did right by him by trading him to a contender, and by not benching him. They kept his trade value up, traded him after he played well, and someone bit. Whether his shooting % goes up with Orlando remains to be seen. So far, it has gone down!
can't see anything good from this thread at least Rafer would have a good chance for a second round in playoff
I didn't like the trade initially because of doubts about AB. Now I'm glad Rafer is gone. durvasa, a few more games shooting 1/9 and Rafer will no longer feel appreciated in Orlando. He will get the same treatment he got here.
