Now averaging 21, 9, and 6 (rounded up, but only barely)

He keeps that up I'd say he's actually ahead of schedule

Sengun would have been drafted a lot higher If nba teams did their due diligence on foreign players.
If Jalen green or Smith didn't pan out in the end at least the sting won't b as bad since we drafted sengun.

The fact that Jokic was drafted even lower and there was a commercial playing when his name was announced shows...... and also someone drafted Milicic.

When it is all said and done Sengun will go down as the best player drafted in the last 4-5 years and that includes a certain really tall French guy.

Sad thing is he has not really improved that much he is just getting the opportunity. He could have done this last year and come close his rookie year.

Loooong time lurker first time poster.

I think most Şengün critics just didn't believe in his potential because he doesn't have the "look" of an elite player.

He has okayish size and okayish athleticism. Although he has things like insane flexibility which he uses very well to score from difficult angles. Also he can use both hands extremely well and in general has very quick hands. But these are not the things fans look for when they judge a player. No player going into draft ever gets a highlight reel for his crazy flexibility. They only get it for dunks and leaping ability or maybe three point shooting

Of course people who looked at his production and actually watched him play knew very early how good he is but they were labeled SOFs because in the age of unicorns and hyper athletic players it's hard for a lot of people to accept that someone like Şengün can be so good. That's why they compared him to Kanter and Garza (lol).

I am not sure if he can reach Jokic levels of greatness but to me he is despite his fundamentals and skills still a "project" and far away from his final form.

The dude she quotes is probably turkish some turks hate sengun for some reason. I recently came across one or two under twins' posts claiming he never works in summers always chills on the beach with his gf. Sounded like a stalker tbh and i was beefing with yurtseven's cousin on twitter last year. He was sh-tting on sengun.

Any idea why they would hate him? Just jealousy or something regional/political?

If he stays at or above this level for a bit longer, yes, I'll concede that point and be ecstatic to do so.

I spoke to several German Turks who claimed to be sports fans (last year) and they didn't even know of him then. May be changing.

So annoying that he has such a soft touch but 0.6 from ft line he is slightly better than Nic Claxton that's unaccaptable. I noticed that he doesn't bend his knees anymore while taking free throws like before he should go back to that.
