Sengun looked ALL NBA in the first half and like a scrub the second half. Charlotte did some nice adjustments on defense and Ime didn't know how to counter it. I just hope that opposing defenses don't start to figure Sengun out... first half Sengun would be in the MVP conversatzion...
He wasn't clutch down the stretch with that costly turnover. But he was playing well. Played really well the 1st half and then not as good the 2nd half
How delusional are we to think Sengun's a superstar. This is what a complete game looks like from a real STAR
One thing i've noticed is that Sengun has trouble against smaller sturdy guys in the low post. Remember the Grizzlies games last season. Biyombo completely shut him down. He's 6'8" but has a very strong upper body. Had a lot of trouble against Looney. The same thing happened today when Grant Williams guarded him. Williams is about 6'7" but is also very strong and Sengun couldn't back him up. If he can't get close to the basket he settles for shots he's not comfortable taking. The turnaround shotput in the low post is not in his bag but Grant forced him to take that in one possession and it fell short. His spin moves work very good against centers because they are not as agile as him but they don't when he's being guarded with smaller strong players because they are faster than him. He probably needs to get a little stronger and work on some turnaround shots from the low post.
He needs to shoot the flamingo more. Especially against a guy like Grant Williams. Just raise up and shoot. He should be practicing against Dillon brooks.
thi This is spot on. Biyombo had his number last year and so did Grant Williams last night. Sengun has to figure out how to deal with these defenders, otherwise teams will assign athletic undersized power forwards to defend and stop him. There are plenty of players like that, in nba and g league.
His ball handling was very janky yesterday. Not just talking about that possession at the end. Handle did not feel tight at all through the whole game. He either needs to get better handling the ball or know his limitations and work around that.
Zero midrange, floater, or push-shots from Sengun last night, out of 22 attempts. No 2P FGA outside of 8 feet. That’s not going to work. Nobody succeeds in the NBA without counters, unless you’re Shaq or Giannis. Gotta play reactively with your head up. Can’t be so predictable.
