The flip side of size is speed. Sengun will never be as big as Jokic. But he is faster.

Agreed about shooting. He has to develop a good shot at least from midrange, if not from 3.

It's not about whether or not Sengun is faster than Jokic though. It's whether or not Sengun can beat out people his size and weight with speed and the answer is going to be "No" most of the time. How often is he going to out jump most bigs his size either? There is also a limit to how much strength he can put on as well.

Sengun has been beating out people that are his size and weight all damn year with speed and skill and strength. His entire life he has been doing it, and now he is absolutely ELITE at it in the NBA as a 20-year-old. What in the world are you watching? We just watched him bust out an open-court ankle-breaker on slender man himself, and we want to put a lid on his potential.

Also, you don't have to out-jump anyone. Do you think Draymond is fast or jumps high? How about Chuck Hayes? PJ Tucker? Why is there a limit on how much strength a 6-10, thicc-boy-ox, can put on? He can put on world-class NBA strength If he wants to, 100%.

Absolutely absurd criticisms from the peanut gallery. Jesus Christ.

    I agree
He doesn't have to outjump folks, sengun and garuba are excellent at boxing out opposing big men. It's the fundamentals.

You could tell from the way he ran on the court in his first season that his muscular structure was very imbalanced. He has strong legs and strong shoulders, but also weak abs, glutes and possibly hamstring. The way he runs when tired was very bad and it's still not good. When you look at players who have been on Besiktas for a long time, you can see that their training/diet is not on par with the NBA. College and G League athletes are always training with people who are in direct contact with NBA training, they know what they're getting into before they get here. Europe does its own thing, few clubs are great at it but it's not as big a focus to be in shape over there. Sengun took a difficult jump in training when he came here as a 19 yr old, more than most rookies. But that also means more room for improvement.

Other rookies their goal is to get bigger or more flexible or lose weight so you don't see them get significantly more athletic as they age. In Alpi's specific case, the things he needs to work on are related to jump/explosiveness/quickness so I've been saying for a year to expect him to get quicker even while he adds muscle as long as he's committed to the gym.

then at pick no 3 we have mr process superstar JOEL emibiied, a 7 footer with hakeem skills that shoots 3 that loses in playoffs to bunch of late FRPs, second rounders and undraftees...(and all that while paired with another SUPERSTAR pick no 3, HARDEN DUMBALYTICS GOD)

he embodies all stupidity, weakassness and irrationaly of the process ie tanking
    lolololol
    so fitting!
i trust the universe where this happens!

    PS @chenjy9

an as for the shooting part, i piss and **** on the shooting...

yanis won it all before nikola the glorious shooter...

and CP3 gave beating to LEBRON THE GOAT in the PLAYOFFS, not shooting at all, playing on one hand...

The answer is not "no", as his continued success has shown. Barkley wasn't taller or bouncier than most people.

    We don't need Stromile Swift.

    We have Alperen Sengun.

He is more slower Hakeem like than Jokic on Offense.

Joker was all baby fat earlier.

Oops Sengun was supposed to be 5’11. Something is off there.

Anyone watched Alpi against 6'10" (2.08) tall Franz Wagner can understand that Alpi is taller/bigger than Franz.

Yeah, Jokic doesn't do a lot of moves in the post like Sengun does. He just uses his size and touch to get his. Sengun doesn't have an overpowering body. He uses quick finesse to beat bigger men. Very different styles.

Sengun has a 65% true shooting scoring efficiency. Considering how much of that is self created vs assisted, it is elite. Considering it’s from a 2nd year 20 year old, it is absurd. Not bad for someone who can’t beat out people his size and weight and can’t out jump anyone.

I would rather give his shots over our inefficient chuckers.
