He's not reporting because he's chronically injured, has a life threatening disease to worry about, and his career is likely over.
Or, he wants to play for Miami and refuses to play for a team like the Raptors who oviously are rebuilding and are going nowhere for a while.
Actually it's more of the fact that he wants to play for a contender and has been asking for a trade the whole season to a contending team from the NJ nets. This was a backward step for him and they are working a deal to buy him out so he can sign with a contender. He has said a few times that he wants to return and play for Miami. He has had nagging injuries this season but nothing serious and has played decent when he does play.
I think it is a little of both. He has said he wants to play in Miami, but he is also injured and won't be ready to return for a few weeks. He never intended on playing in Toronto and they knew that going in.
I have read an article that says both of you are right. He has nagging injuries to take care of due to the disease that he has and has to see a doctor. The riggors of the season has caught up with him. Also, I think he wants a buyout of his contract so he can go play with the heat.
How can Miami afford him when they're already paying Shaq? I guess that's where the buyout comes in, but I don't really understand that business.
If anything Zo would be going there for the vetrans minimum because he already has made his money with the Nets Contract and the Buyout and he is looking for a ring.
Babcock waived the stipulation that he reports w/in 48 hrs. He's not MIA or holding out. Neither side expects him to wear a Raptors uni. Evan
Because everybody is gonna jump into Rox Wagon after last night' s game..... Karl's agent called CD this afternoon, too.
This is hard for me to say as I have been following ZO's career since his rookie season at charlotte. ZO is one of my favorite players of all time but dude is being very greedy. First off, he should have stayed in Miami rather than resigning with the Nets because the Heat were loyal to him throughout his illness and even offered him a one year deal and then a position in the front office once he was done. After signing with the Nets and it not working out, he should have accepted the bye-out from the NETS and gone to the Heat or whoever else he wanted. Why did he want to play for a team that preferred he retired than comeback? Now he should just cut his losses and take whatever the Raptors offer him b/c they have no obligations to release him as he is under contract. He has made enough money and a remarkable comeback and career long outstanding contributions off the court is being overshadowed by his greed. ZO, please do the right thing so you aren't remembered as just another greedy professional sports player!!!
