When we got Tmac last summer, some of us said we are going contend this year. Some said we the top team in the west. Some said it might take us a couple years to gell and contend.

Now, the season is almost 3 quarters through, and we rebuilt the entire roster around Tmac and Yao on the fly. And the management team did a really good job.

Record wise, we are 10 games above .500 and in the 6th spot in the west.

Playing wise, we seems to be playing very smart and efficient basketball at this time. We beat some really good teams, including both the Spurs and the Mavs twice already, which we couldn't do last year. We also lost some games we are supposed to win, such as the Bobcats(twice) way back and the Jazz(twice) just recently.

The auro among the fans have been up and down along the way, but at this point, it seems to be on the upswing.

So, here is the question? So far at where we are, has the team met the expectations you set when we got Tmac?

I think they are coming along as most of us expected them too realistically. I didn't expect them to start off winning games left and right so i gave them a little slack and let them play.

Slowly they started to gel and aquire a few other players that worked well in JVG system and next thing you know they are contending and going on winning streaks left and right.

I am very happy at the state of the rockets going into the playoffs. I am not hoping for much becuase we are still geling in a sense but if we can get to the second round of the playoffs i will be very happy.

I didn't expect them to get out of the first round this year anyways so anything more than that is icing on the cake for me....next year is another story and i think we can only get better.

They are in 6th place, thought they'd be 4th or 5th in the offseason. But things are always fluid. 6th is not bad and hopefully can knock off Seattle (if Seattle is 3rd).

I thought they could compete for home court in the first round and technically they still can. I don't mind them being in 6th place too much since Phoenix and Seattle are blowing away everyone's expectations.

There's no way to expect the early disappointment and the trade extravaganza the Rockets pulled off, but their record is right where most here reasonably expected.

If you dug old posts, lot of us actually thought we were going to be the #3,4 teams on paper in the west after the Tmac trade. As the season went on in the 1st month, lot of us thought we were not going to make the playoff, then came a couple 4 game win streaks with a 8 game run, all of sudden lot of us thought we were a legit champion contender this year. After the break we lost 4 in 5 games, we were depressed agin. I say with all the up and downs, we are right at where we should be.

I'd have to say they are a litte ahead of where I thought they's be. Trading 60% of our starting lineup for T-Mac, although I wanted to do it, was risky, especially since we made the playoffs last year. However, I expected about the same as last year. If anything they are a pleasant suprize or about where I thought the'd be. I never bought into the 3 seed that some folks said we'd be.

is we were a top 3 seed then i would say they are blowing me away. i excpected 4th or 5th. 6th is fine considering our rocky start.

next year though.....we take home court!

I have to say it's a pleasant surprise.

I can't believe we traded away 3/5 of our starting line-up for one guy and still managed to build the team we have right now. I wasn't surprised at all out how we started the season, but I'm amazed that we got T-mac and we have a team of sorts.

Hats of to management and all of you bandwagoners can kiss my ass.

I'm surprised indeed. There is even a possibility, in my opinion, that we could be in the Western Conference finals. And the biggest surprise is that we will have tremendous ability to improve next year and the year after that. From there on out, it's the Rockets vs. James for the next decade.

all I can say is Sweet!!

I expected to compete for the 4th seed (befre season started)and although we are several games back of the Mavs, I think we are right where we should be. Considering our horrible start iam very satisified with our current position.

I think the team is where I expected them to be, however I could not forsee the trade mania that happened. Pretty happy so far.

Those that are being blown away must have had very low expectations.

I expected to make the playoffs, but the way the team is now has changed my view.

I now think they can win it all, only if they don't beat themselves.

I would say they are "a pleasant surprise".

The TMAC trade really crippled our depth. With the new players and our depth issue I figured we would be fighting for the 8th seed again this year. And then need this upcomming summer to reshape our roster.

I am surprised at the "jump start" we got in reshaping our roster during the season with the additions of Barry/Wesley/James. And I am surprised at the "Sura Impact" to this team. He is more of a factor than I expected. Sura adds a "swagger" this team needs. I actually am not surprised at Mutombo's play. I expected it as his style of play is a PERFECT match on a JVG team and the added benefit of his friend Ewing being a coach.

The chemistry on this team is much better than I expected and those midseason trades, I didnt expect, really gave this team a boost.

I'm little surprised that we were able to gell and come together a lot sooner than I expected considering almost the whole roster was changed. It's the toughest adjustment for both JVG and Yao. Realistically we're not going to be a championship contender this season, but we never know because this team is capable of beating any good teams in the NBA.

The Rockets have been a pleasant suprise. Right when we got t-mac my expectations were high, but I also knew we needed time to gel and learn JVG's system. Their record is where I thought it would be but the way we are playing is what suprises me, we can beat anyone.

If you take into account the unexpected rise to regular season dominance of the Suns and Sonics, the Rockets are right where they were predicted to be. If it weren't for them, I believe the Rox would be a 4 seed right now.

Pleasant surprise. I believed the team would need a season before we could even think of the team contending. Although we are a 6 seed right now, we can play with the big boys. I didn't think that would happen this year.

Frankly, if you give u 8-9 instead of 6-11 to start the year, we're knocking on Dallas' door.

the roster moves have been pure genius and tremendous fortune.

I'm very disappointed, I thought the combo of T-Mac and Yao would have at least three rings by now, and a couple of MVPs, instead all we have is a 35 and 25 record. :( Not even one playoff win! How long do we have to wait?

Seriously though, this season has been a blast, watching JVG hush his critics, watching T-Mac develop into a true superstar, watching Yao play the role of a complementary star and watching the role players do everything they are supposed to do has been a pleasure. Record wise, maybe they are a little behind where I thought they'd be at, but their level of play is higher than I though it would be, mostly due to the brilliant trades and the play of T-Mac and Yao. Once the playoffs are over I predict most people will be blown away into heaven with the success the Rockets had.
