So Iverson wants to go to Miami, but they're only offering 2 million. Memphis wants to do a 1 year deal for 5 mil (great business move, no basketball sense), but that's his last option. The Bobcats are involved somehow, but probably not offering as much as Memphis. At this point he should just head overseas or maybe sit out and wait for an injury.

Lets sign him for 3 Mil a year using our MLE, the other 2.6 for Von. Let Brooks play Point, AI at SG, Von and SF, Tmac at PF. Give them 4 balls and they'll proly score 400 points per game!

i know this was a joke but ugh... can you imagine a worse fit than iverson?

on the other hand; if JVG was still the coach, a lineup of iverson, shane, ariza, scola, and chuck might make the playoffs.

AI reaps what he sows, he is a one dimensional player with a bad image, eventually he begins to decline and at that point who wants to take in a guy with that kind of attitude.

    Practice...we talkin bout practice....not a game...not a game....practice.

I just wish he could play with out being selfish, he just doesnt realize that he can still penetrate and get players good looks if he truly wanted to, he really screwed himself out of a great opportunities.

Stephon Marbury got a contract last year so you know there are good teams willing to offer Iverson the minimum. He'd be good as the goto bench scorer, like Jason Terry. Just tell AI all he needs to do is score and let him loose.

He doesn't make any sense for young and bad teams, you don't want him stunting the growth of your young players. But Memphis obviously doesn't care, if signing Iverson improves their bottom line, who cares if he doesn't fit with Gay and Mayo or stunts the growth of Conley. It's all about the mone.... winning to Heisley.

Yeah but Marbury was at least willing to come off the bench. The whole problem with A.I. last year in Detroit is he was not willing to come off the bench.

I agree about his attitude, but not about his skills. He's not a one dimensional player. One dimensional players do not win MVP. He had such quick hands for steals, he is a good passer, I remember him averaging 5-7 asts and 2.5 steals a game.
The problem to me is he never matured, when he was 25 he was probably the quickest guy in the league, no defender could contain him one on one because of his quickness(maybe T.Lue), but he never understanded the transition from a pure scorer to a point guard.

It's hard for guys when they go from being a SUPERSTAR to non-star player in the span of a season. Extremely few can make that transition gracefully. It's a hard reality check. Olajuwon, Ewing, Jordan, Webber, Payton, etc all had extremely difficult times accepting reality when it happened to them.

I like Iverson, but if he can't dominate, you just can't use him. It's all or nothing. He's best served coming off the bench now, but I don't see him accepting that.

Sounds a lot like your favorite player. For the record AI is far from one dimensional.

It sucks when reality slaps you in the face and you wakeup and realize those max contracts are a thing of the past. And the most you can get is a 5 mil 1 year deal if you agree to be a novelty act for the local NBA circus in Memphis.

It takes a strong minded man to accept that his best days are behind him but if he comes back hard and reshapes his game to team player man. It will never happen. In a contract year he refused to come off the bench which plummeted his stock even more. It's just a game man, where talking about a game.

But I don't know see how you all don't get it.

If we get Iverson and start him, we are a shoo in for the John Wall pick!!!!

Sign him two years for $5 mil (Mid-class exemption + Von's money). What do we got to lose?

yeah and i read an article that iverson has re-iterated the same threat this off-season - i want a starting job or else i'm going to retire. he doesn't fit that well with the teams interested in him - the heat and grizzlies - because they already have talented shooting guards (wade and mayo) and young point guards who need playing time to develop (conley and chalmers). so it'll be interesting to see how this works out.

I would take him for 3-4M for 2 years.

No one plays with more heart than AI. No one!

I could do without his flopping though.

Would there be a faster backcourt than Brooks/AI? It would be the most undersized but damn that would be fast.

If he accepted being a sixth man, I could see him giving good production for three more seasons, but he'll never accept being a bench player, because he's too stubborn and prideful.
