Ok, i know this is going to be controversial but what does everyone think about signing AI this off season? Hes an elite player, he is slightly on a decline but we know he can score and he is definately an ironman. This stuff about his back is bs but by the start of training camp he should be 100% if there was anything really wrong with him.

If we dont re-sign artest and we sign iverson for 10 to 12 and we still have battier and we try iverson and yao with battier as the defensive man. Though i still think a point upgrade is needed i think this team could make it far. On top of that if tmac comes back healthy and can contribute somehow next season that would be a plus but if not hes got an expiring that could really help us trade deadline next season. Discuss, remember this is just a thought. I want to see what kind of reception this idea gets from clutch fans, because i know we were psyched about it last summer of him coming to the Rockets.

For the love of God please no!
AI is a cancer and a quitter just ask Philly, Denver, and Detroit. I would much prefer Artest than the over paid and over the hill AI. No thanks to AI!

IDK if we can so easily dismiss his back problems despite how tough of a guy he is.

I mean "Father time is undefeated." so his back could be a problem here.

As for his play...I mean he'd be a asset to any team if he...

    A.) Comes off the bench
    B.) Plays within the team

If he came here and did those two things i'm sure he'd help us out.

Not gonna happen. AI is part of a dying breed. There's a reason all those ISO guards of the late 90's early 2000's are all either washed up or out of the league.

I suspect AI will sign with Charlotte to be reunited with Larry Brown before calling it quits.

Look what he did for Pistons. His offense can no longer off set his short coming.

unless he is willing to be signed for vet mini. I would pay him the same as we did with Deke.

Our eyes are on 2010 people, we got the perfect storm setup for 2010. With tmac and others coming off the book. we got enough to resign Yao and a super-star like Lebron or Wade.

NO! that would kill our team. Only if we can reach and agreement to set up a season full of 10 day contracts based on his performance and affect on team chemistry. Would never happen. So No way to AI

Iverson has always been the Answer.

the only problem is that we aren't asking the right question nor will we ever here.

I like Iverson, but he is not a good fit with an Adelman offense.

He is going to the Bobcats....

We have zero play in 2010.

The most value we have is Stacys expiring contract. No way we let that run out.

We have had talk with the Suns and Clippers about expirings.

I see a Nash/Barbosa type deal or a Baron Davis/Camby deal going down in the offseason. Both of those teams are looking to unload contracts...

I'll take him as a last resort player in 2010 if we have nobody to turn to, but I wouldn't pay him max, probably half that.

I like Iverson, I really do but I really don't know. Artest and Allen Iverson on the same team? That is going to be a real headache but he is MUCH better than a banged up T-Mac and Ron offensively. Still I'm not sold after his shenanigans in Detroit.

    An emphatic NO!

I really have never been impressed with AI. Yes, he scored a ton of points, but he has to dominate the ball. That run to the Finals was kind of fluky, and they got killed in that series. Other than that, the 76ers were never that great of a team, and the Nuggets were mediocre during his sting there. Clearly, he gave nothing to Detroit.

We purged ourselves of Francis, and I don't want an older version of him.

IMO the only good thing about the AI situation in Detroit is that it could leave them around $23M under LT. Dumars has shown interest in McGrady, as has McGrady in them. A $23M TE and picks would enable the Rockets to add another top tier player through trade and to re-sign/S&T Artest.
