I called it in that Top 10 reasons thread. All of you guys that yesterday were basically crying for a trade, or saying the season was over... what happened? Its almost like the Rockets just proved you wrong by playing championship caliber basketball tonight. And the thing is, its not like the Rockets played out of their minds today. No one went off for 40. No one came off the bench and unloaded 20 points today. We just played normal Rockets defense and let the offense flow. So basically, everyone that was calling the season over after 9 games, the season is 82 games long and I think a win like this proves more about this team than the loss against the Spurs did yesterday.
Man, did they play good defense or did they play good defense? The way they swarmed the ball, cut off players... it was a nice sight. Great D all around.
It happens man. People need to vent their frustration, and that's why we have this site. To hear people's opinions. From the '99ers and the die-hards, to the player-only-fans, to the new fans, this site is for us all. Any loss where something goes wrong is a good time to vent.
"championship caliber basketball" They played great, but nothing like that right there. This is still to me not normal, we played great defense. Hornets played horrible offense and of course partly because of our great defense. This is not the way to win championships though.
Well said. You will find all kinds of fans for every team in every professional sport. Everybody doesn't have to be a cheerleader. Fans should be able to speak their mind no matter what as long as they don't break forum rules. It's also natural that fans will bicker and argue a little when they disagree. If you can't handle those facts, maybe an internet sports forum isn't the best place for you. Look at fans that attend games across all sports. They aren't all nuns and politicians. Sports are all about getting wild and crazy - letting the kid out of you, or being a kid if you are one. It's about competition and emotion - a venue for excitement and unwinding. If you want to be around perfectly behaved people, go to the library. If you only want to hear positive stuff, become a cheerleader.
Lets see this team was up 14 yesterday in the 4th qt against a Spurs team without Manu and Parker, and they let the Spurs comeback and win. Do you really think people are not going to overreact?
it wasn't chamionship caliber by any means.. still plenty of work to be done.. for the first time in a while.. there was actual off the ball motion, and more dedication from the team to keep the ball moving.. but there were still lulls in the 3rd and 4th.. a bit on the defense but mostly on the offense.. which is why we never broke away despite keeping West and Paul in check the entire night.. but they're heading in the right direction with this game.. as you put it.. the "thing is".. no one went off for 40.. but that is because it is no longer necessary to depend on someone going off for 40.. or to have a player come off the bench with 20.. for this team to win.. hence the offensive flow.. and for this team to develop the a level of overall consitency for a steady stream success.. this is exactly what they themselves have to realize..
"normal" rockets defense? how come i often didn't see that in the previous 9 games? no one was crying last night that the season was over. a lot of fans, myself included, just said there were enough to worry about this team right now. look, if you mark this thread and come out and say the same after another terrible rockets loss (it will come, every team have some in a long season), then i will quit my suspicion that you're a self-righteous person.
there are venting chicken littles.. and misguided pollyannas.. but admist these extremes.. there is also constructive criticism that shouldn't go ignored..
This is true. But that constructive criticism gets placed with the hating and venting sometimes. And it goes unnoticed.
There's venting, and then there is aggressive complaining. I'll b**** about a bad loss, but a fair weather fan is going to demand everyone be traded and that we fire the coach. Were we not calling for a Tmac trade just yesterday? And yesterday he played a perfect game. I can't remember a time when I was pissed off at something Tmac did today.
Why is it that if you are frustrated and disappointed in a terrible loss that you are considered a fairweathered fan? It doesn't bother you that the Rockets are terribly inconsistent and could be 8-2 right now?
WE should be 8-2 the blazers and spurs losses are what get to us... We shouldn't lose yet we do because we play to the level of our competition.... Imagine if we were 8-2 with the only 2 coming to the celtics and lakers who were both in the finals last year.... Still not happy with TMAC and believe we should trade him to dallas for terry and howard
Majority of the people never said the ROCKETS SUCKED. They are pretty damn good actually. We just want to trade Tmac because he is still a trigger happy jump shooter who will never attack the basket again like he used to even if his life depended on it and I still stand by that. TRADE TMAC for some better value in PG/PF and we're set.
