I know he didnt play in the NBA, but when my brother was in High school(Lamar '79) there was a guy that was a star on that team, his name is/was Paul Medina.
    Thats who I nominate.
We've been living in Miami since 1980, so i really dont know of anybody else.

Francis was born and raised in Maryland. Same with Olajuwon but from Nigeria. Only one I know for sure that's from Houston is Rashard Lewis. Don't know what you're talking about.

If you count playing at San Jacintio JC for a couple seasons then maybe, you could call him Houston area.

Yeah, Olajuwon did play here at UH but neither were raised here.

    Basically, this thread kinda sucks.

i consider players that were amatuers and lived in houston before they went pro, from houston.

whether they were born here, or not makes no difference to me.

or to you, considering that you take great pride in saying you know that shard is "from houston"

when the boy was born in louisiana.....

I'd add TJ Ford to that list.

Does Damon Jones count? I know he's from Galveston but thats close enough. A few others that had a chance or will be in the NBA soon enough.

Carlos Hurt .....I remember when he put 36 on TJ Ford at M.O Campbell in a playoff game. Bad attitude messed up his career at Louisville.

Lawrence Roberts....barring injury should be a first round pick in the NBA draft.

Joe Stephens from North Shore was one of my favorite rockets. I wanted to see him get more playing time when he was with the team.
