This compressed season sucks from a fan's perspective. The owners are really teaching the players a lesson with all these back to backs. I can't believe this is going to go on for 5 more months. I expect the playoffs this year to be some of the most poorly played series of all time. It will also be interesting to see how many hamstring injuries, torn knees, and other injuries settle down on these players. This schedule is a terrible strain even for the most in-shape professional athletes.

You beat me to it. I was going to start a thread on this later tonight.

Fatigue and depth are going to be constant issues the entire regular season. We are going to see uneven efforts all throughout the season. Some nights teams just aren't going to have the energy to compete hard. It's happened already and is why I would be careful judging teams so early.

It will be so bad that winning individual games won't be the primary concern. Playoff seedings for true contenders won't matter so much because what's most important is preparing/preserving a team for the post-season.

In San Antonio, Pop is showing why he is one of the best coaches, if not still the best. No player on their team is averaging over 30 mins/game. This is the correct approach IMO. Without Manu for two months, I wonder if they can maintain that. As the season progresses, we will see other teams mimic Pop's approach if they are smart.

On the other hand, it's a lot of fun to have so many games every night right now, especially with the league pass free trial right now.

And ultimately the fan gets screwed by watching an inferior product.

It is just stupid. I wanted basketball as much as the next fan, but I also would have been happy with a 50 game season. It could have started a little later and there could have been a little bit more time off before games.

Here are the guys averaging 35 mins or more per game. Some of these coaches better wise up fast or they will regret it. The condensed schedule will end up causing a lot more damage to the product than the NBA dreamed of.

    Code:
    1	Monta Ellis	GS	5	201	40.2
    2	Luol Deng	CHI	7	276	39.4
    3	Dwight Howard	ORL	7	272	38.9
