He got it off with .5 left. Would have counted even if the clock started right when he touched the ball. And the clock seemingly never starts when someone touches the ball. A human is never gonna be able to press a button at the exact time someone receives a ball. That is just the way its always been. Unless they invent some technology to where they take human error out of it it will continue to be like that.
He got the shot off, and for once in the series I am glad we lost in the final minute because they beat us. The refs didn't screw us in the final minute. Portland hit a crazy tough shot. Lillard only makes that shot 1/10 times and we were just unlucky. The foul on Asik to take away Lin's three was the right call. Lillard not establishing himself inbounds before grabbing the rebound was the right call. It seems like the refs wanted overtime to me, but I can't complain. My only gripe is that Aldridge fouled Howard on the rebound that didn't matter during the final possession. But that shot is too amazing for the NBA to take away. Portland fans would have rioted if they made the same call on Aldridge as they did to Asik. As for the rest of the game...It was pretty much what they did to Howard on the final play all game to grab all the rebounds.
So what? He clearly got it off in time. Now, if he dribbled you would have a point. I would expect the same result too because the NBA always gives an extra .4 seconds in these cases. They don't judge by when the clock starts, but when the ball leaves his hands and if the red light is on. It's stupid if you ask me. He clearly got it off in .9 seconds regardless of when the clock started.
The whole .3 and .2 seconds thing was a head scratcher. I don't understand it. I wish the NBA were like football and the refs got on the mic and gave reasons for each major call that needed clarification. If any call needed it, that was the one. They made us wait 5 minutes for literally nothing. You can't do anything with .2. McHale: "You're screwing us."
I agree. For the first time in this series they got all the late game calls right. Asik that was a definite foul. Even if it was embellished you can't grab guys like that. Lillard never established himself. And they hit the big shot. In the end the Rockets could not play defense for 0.9 seconds. They get to think about that all off season and THAT is good. It hurts now but hopefully it teaches. Let the Blazers move on and have their false hope that three-ball gets you anywhere but being playoff fodder for years to come. Meanwhile the Rockets SHOULD re-tool and approach this thing differently one would hope. Come back with the same strategy and expect the same results.
Isn`t there something like a rule? 0.8 seconds are enough to catch and shoot? Don`t be bitter, it was an amazing shot. He let it go pretty quick, those always count when you have more than .8 seconds left, and sometimes even when there is less.
You are correct. I watched in on YouTube. He is up in the air and nearly releasing the ball and the clock is still showing 0.9. It's more like a realistic 2.0 seconds.
But the world will argue that it is only as good as the human eye can do. Therefor stop whinging and complaining. Not me though, it's yet another thing that has turned me off basketball.
All games are complete BS. You cannot catch, lower your legs, jump, flick your writs back and give enough power to throw 30 feet anywhere near 0.9 seconds and if you pause on Youtube and watch you will see what I say is true. Clearly fixed by the home teams scorer.
You guys complaining about this must have missed Brandon Roy's three in 0.8 after Yao's game winner. Yes, it was a game winner I don't care what the final score says. It belonged to Yao.
replay clearly shows he had the ball without clock starting. Dude caught turned around THEN it started. Someone feel free to post an animated gif for the laughs. it's all fake guys.. dont be upset about macho man beating hulk hogan or vice versa since that is all fake too. portland had one real win. Nice league. I would be upset too if it wasn't completely rigged.
You can easily catch/shoot. What you can't do in 0.9, apparently, is double team a player who's running off screens. Beverly is denying his man... and Howard needed to guard Aldridge who could have gotten off a turn-around... but Jones and Harden should have been nowhere near their men once the ball was thrown in. Honestly, the Parsons put-back was a blessing in disguise. A missed shot, or simply loose-ball, and this game goes into OT (where likely the same crazy shot-making happens... despite attempted course corrections, the eventual will eventually happen.). Or, this goes to game 7 and Lillard hits that shot in Houston (which like Stockton's shot, would be even more devastating). Portland deserved it just as much as the Rockets did. Tip your hat... they were just as good in the regular season, and they won the series playing their style of ball. The Rockets made it a close series playing a style of ball that they literally did not go to throughout the ENTIRE regular season... you could see them "improving" as the series went on, but its no surprise they lost as many close games as they did. Half-court execution (both defensively and offensively) is tough enough, let alone when you don't have many set plays or haven't had to run this style regularly for 82+ games.
Yeah the clock was maybe a tad slow to start but it would have been good either way. Just stop it - you said you need a gif to prove you wrong... Here's a video. The clock didn't make a difference! Get over it, it was legit. http://youtu.be/OuhXX-rtQTI?t=1m15s
it doesn't matter if it did or not. the game is over and even if the NBA apologizes it doesnt change the outcome.
So was Parsons in on it too? Did he let Lillard shoot it? All they had to do was play defense for 0.9 seconds. That's all.
thanks for the rep cardpire "regardless of when clock started? He had the ball in hands BEFORE clock started you idiot. Do you know why a clock exists? You suck at life. WOW. SMH.. please stop posting for life." But I like honest basketball. I don't care about the clock and I think the refs job should be to time it and see if he got it off in .9. I will time it for you and report the results.
I got .56 twice when I did it accurately. Then I did it well before he caught it to well after it left his hand and got .88 He got it off in time, quit crying. <script src="http://player.espn.com/player.js?playerBrandingId=4ef8000cbaf34c1687a7d9a26fe0e89e&adSetCode=91cDU6NuXTGKz3OdjOxFdAgJVtQcKJnI&pcode=1kNG061cgaoolOncv54OAO1ceO-I&width=576&height=324&externalId=espn:10876401&thruParam_espn-ui[autoPlay]=false&thruParam_espn-ui[playRelatedExternally]=true"></script> There are a ton of other calls and no calls to complain about tonight and this series, but you choose this. I disagree.
Lol at the top comment. I can't believe Portland fans have the audacity to complain about the refs. Lillard did not establish himself inboudns. That is a rule. Damnit, they want to win by cheating and they don't care. Serves them right when they get their ass spanked next round.
