Just read an espn insider article about players that could be on the trading block this summer. Tracy McGrady Vince Carter Elton Brand Allen Iverson SAR Ray Allen Shawn Marion Jerry Stackhouse Jason Terry Tyson Chandler Jason Richardson Big Z Out of those I would really like to see Tmac, Brand and Allen on this team. Obviously we would be including SF in any of those deals. But most appealing to me would be elton brand, although undersized is a superb rebounder and shot blocker. According to insider Donald Sterling is more concerned with making a profit instead of winning. A trade for a star that would put people in seats could land brand, *cough* *cough* SF. With Allen the super sonics are looking for low post scoring and inside toughness. Not sure if they would be willing to take Cato and MoT, but maybe we could work something out with MoT. We would probably have to take one of their bad contract centers. Allen would be a perfect fit with Yao, but we will be unlikely to land him because SAR being available and in the last year of his contract.
I read that article as well and agree that those 3 names popped out as the type of players that would be great to add to this team. Here is what Insider said on those three. Tracy McGrady, SG, Magic 67 28.0 6.0 5.5 .417 .796Magic GM John Weisbrod knows T-Mac can opt out of his contract after next season and likely will do so if Weisbrod can't seriously upgrade the team this summer. Without cap space, tradeable assets or a crystal ball to divine Grant Hill's health, it's becoming clearer by the day that the Magic may have no choice but to trade T-Mac now, while they can still get value back in return. McGrady says he doesn't want to leave Orlando, but right now winning is more important. If Weisbrod can't make some miracles happen this summer, look for the Magic to shift gears and attempt to get two or three young prospects (preferably a center and a point guard) in return for McGrady. Odds of trading T-Mac: 3-to-1 Elton Brand, PF, Clippers One year after signing Brand to the biggest contract in franchise history, are the Clippers really considering trading him? The answer, according to sources around the league, is yes. L.A. was horrible down the stretch, finishing on a 3-22 run. Donald Sterling reportedly wants to add some star power to the roster this year. He's got the cap room to sign Kobe Bryant if he can lure him across the hall at the Staples Center. If he can't, expect the Clippers to make a run at a star like McGrady, Carter or Allen Iverson. Sterling understands the economics of such deals better than anyone. Guys like Iverson or Carter might not translate into more wins, but they will sell more tickets. That's all the Donald really cares about anyway. Odds of trading Brand: 3-to-1 Ray Allen, SG, Sonics The Sonics might not be willing to swap Allen straight-up for Abdur-Rahim, but it does sound like he's no longer untouchable. Allen, once considered one of the NBA's best citizens, has openly complained about Nate McMillian and the Sonics' rebuilding efforts. McMillian shot back at Allen during his season-ending press conference, questioning Allen's attitude and shot selection. The chances of a contract extension this summer no longer look that promising. Rashard Lewis, Radmanovic, James and Barry also are on the hot seat in Seattle. It appears they're on the verge of another major shake-up, with the goal of landing some low-post scoring and defensive toughness. Odds of trading Allen: 4-to-1
Hell, if we're dreamcasting, the one I want most is Marion. Marion at the 3, slide JJ to the 2, Cat as 6th man of the year. Make that happen.
For Max money, I would rather have someone else than Marion. He is a nice player but I dont think he would make as much impact as a McGrady, Brand or Allen would on the Rockets.
The last thing I want is another ball hug on this team, but Elton Brand or Tyson Chandler will look great in Rockets jersey.
c'mon guys its the playoffs....we agreed to not talk about the offseason 'till we are done with the post season. but since im here... JVG choses players based on thier defence. he loves cat only because he is a good defender...i dont think he will be moved out of the line-up. so trading for a 2 is unlikely. i expect jeff to be interested in brand and maion, from that list.
wow that is an interesting point. I think this is a list of people on non playoff teams since their season is already over. I bet they will come out with a new list once the playoffs are done.. Once people see how valuable a focused SF3 is.. he wont even be mentioned on that list. He is going to show us why he is Stevie French Fries! whooops.. errr I meant Franchise! damn edit button doesnt work. J
Question: Which ones are most likely? Brand is on a MAX CONTRACT - in fact i thought he signed his before SF Ray Allen - OV VER RATED T-mac - This would be the man . . but somehow I don't see it. . . he would chafe in the JVG system Marion is ok . . but what is his contract like? Rocket RIver
I would love to have RAllen on this team.. but not for his current contract. I think hes paid too much for being a one dimensional type player.. J
Brand signed his last offseason, there was some hoopla because it was the biggest contract donald sterling ever signed, a whoping 6 year 85 million i think.
But a better rebounder, better passer, better defender and slightly better size. Yes, aside from that, he's just like Allan Houston . I would kill to have Ray Allen on this team with Yao Ming. Can you even imagine Yao demanding attention in the post with Allen draining 3's and midrange J's from all over? My goodness. It's a dream combination. I would give Francis up in a second for Ray Allen. He's one of those players that will score 20ppg for us and in the process will improve Yao tremendously.
I do not know. Allen is one freaking point better than Stevie in FG percentage. I think you have mistaken him for Peja.
Allen is almost 2 percentage points better than Steve. 6 percentage points better from 3pt range. He's a better FT shooter. Despite all this, the most important thing is HOW he gets his points. Allen's a pure shooter, Francis has to go to the basket to be effective. This is not fantasy basketball. Plus, he's 3 inches taller than Steve, and is a SG, not a hybrid.
Just to add to that, he shoots more, making his better FG% more impressive. Oh, and even at SG, his asst/to ratio is 0.1 lower than Steve's.
