If the All Star Voting wasnt done and the starters would be picked by the coaches !!!! then do you think Yao would start this season??

depends on how influenced they are by the league, in general. it's good for the NBA to have Yao start that game.

Hard to believe we have 2 of 5 starters again. we are truly blessed.

Depends if Amare is considered a center. If Amare is considered a PF, then Yao would definitely deserve the spot. Otherwise, Amare is having a much better season.

That reminds me - no Nugget will be a part of the ASG in DENVER! Unless maybe if Carmelo wants to partake in the slam dunk contest.

    Sorry.

Elve, yes Yao will be selected by the coachs in the West as the starting Center for the West (18-8, 52%) even though some will argue that is by default.

"Hard to believe we have 2 of 5 starters again. LES is truly blessed."

Of course we are blessed too. But it is stuff like haivng 2 of the most POPULAR players in the league that really has driven up the Rockets value as a franchise which now sits as the 4th most valued franchise in the entire NBA behind NY, LA and Dallas. That's why it makes me laugh the people that want to trade Yao or not sign him to a max contract. Hilarious!

You can bank on Kobe, Tmac, Garnett, Duncan and Yao as the starters for the forseeable future of the Western Conference all star team. No one is going to displace any of those guys. Amare isnt. Nash isnt. Dirk isnt. Those 5 are the 5 most popular guys in the West and they will stay that for a long time.

Keep in mind that Yao is #1 in All Star votes right now in the ENTIRE NBA. And Tmac is 4th behind (Garnett and Carter I believe). Honestly, the only player I see being able to make any move is Lebron James.

Not if they're not the best players they won't.

Interesting that you feel the need to slam me because I said that Yao might not be the best center in the West. Insecure?

As for the Nugs, we have bigger problems than the all-star game.

DG, it's gonna be an ugly game. Both of our teams suck. I just hope Denver's not in complete melt-down mode tonight after the BRoncos lose to the Colts. Ugh.

Many fans, myself included, don't care about the value of their team. I just want them to win.

There is definitely a correlation between the two, but I don't care about it. Just win.

Sorry Nugs, I am not slamming you rather having a chuckle about the whole thing. It is kinda weird to not have an all star when the game is going on in your town. I was not slamming you at all and I apologize if you misunderstood me.

Look for guys like Nowitzki, Peja, and Nash to also be locks for many years as well.

No prob. My sensors on this site are always at an all-time high. There was an article on that in the paper today. I think it was the 2000, 2002 and 2003 all-star games that all didn't have a hometown rep in there. Shame that we're gonna add to that list.
