I was surprised I hadn't seen this thread made yet (and apologies if I missed it), but I wanted to show my appreciation for Fred VanVleet and his performance this year on the court and as a leader. I was all on board the "sign FVV" train in the offseason, but even I did an initial double-take at the amount he signed for. IMO, the man has been worth every penny. I love me some Beard, but Fred is everything that James is not. Completely unselfish and totally willing to do whatever it takes to win basketball games and help the youth develop. And he's having one of the best seasons of his career in the meantime. He's an ironman, leading the league in MPG (38) and having his best season as a pro in terms of MPG, AST/G (8.8), AST% (33.7) and WS/48 (.164); while posting stats that are among his 3-4 best seasons in 3-point shooting, rebounding, turnovers and scoring efficiency. In the month of December, all Fred has done is average 19/8/5/2/1 on 41/41/88 shooting percentages with a 4+ AST/TO ratio. And I love that he can go from being a go-to scorer in the clutch one night to taking a step back in a game like last night to let the young guys do their thing. I know Fred's a long shot to make it because the back court is stacked in the West, and there's a ton of superstar guards in this league. But he's been an All-Star before, and he's playing at a borderline All-Star level worthy of getting him some votes. If you get a few minutes around the holidays, show some love for our starting PG and a guy who doesn't get nearly as much credit as he deserves for helping turn this franchise around this season.
