I always hear and read that he gets an overwhelming support from China. But really, if his votes were as overwhelming as many writers would let you believe wouldn't he have like over 40 million easily every year.

    Someone explain?

    Are these claims accurate?

i don't think it helps him all that much to be honest. if it did, he'd have way more votes than tim duncan but duncan is very close behind. people blow it out of proportion.

From the way columnist and talking heads mention it, it seems like he would be leading everybody without question.

Another thing is how they quanitfy that all of the votes came China, Canada, USA, or somewhere else.

Internet traffic tells the site which part of the world the votes are coming from

I think NBA are filtering the vote.................or that we all know Yao gonna start anyway. Like with KG/KB, I know they'll start no matter what, so I didn't brother voting for them in any of my vote.......(*vote Nash instead of kobe)

if they took away internet voting from outside the USA, i'm very confident the results would be exactly the same.

The ASG is not about who deserves. It is about who audience want to see!

I want to see the rockets players to play, so I vote for them everyday. This is the same as that I like the rockets and thus watch every rockets' game!

If the NBA had put Yi on the ballot, then that would provide a very good indication of how strong the chinese vote is. He is not very well-known to americans and Milwaukee's fan base is pretty small, so that would have been a perfect indicator. But, I guess the ballot makers did not deem him worthy of that honor.

The question is not important anymore. I guarantee he wouldn't get as many votes from China as the first year he played for NBA. The fact is YAo dosen't need that many supports from Chinese to start western lineup any more, plus Chinese have shifted their attention to YI.
