Voting for the final spot ends at 6PM this afternoon. Let's all do our best to make sure Francisco Liriano from Minnesota (the guy who schooled us last week) gets the nod over that prick, AJ Pierzynski. Liriano's been nothing short of dominating all year long, so this should be a no-brainer. In the NL, I gave my vote to Garciaparra, as he's hitting .360. www.mlb.com
Yes vote Liriano over the douchebag. many times... use a script even... http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/4427
The dude should be the starter for the AL and he's struggling to get in as a last minute vote. I don't understand.
I voted for Pierzynski and Capuano. You guys shouldn't put so much stock in a player's on-field personality, especially fiery guys like Pierzynski. They're trying their best to get their team to win, it's hard to fault him for that. I've been around a lot of major leaguers and off the field they're not like they are on the field.
douchebag or not... a rookie Pitcher with an 8-1 record as a starter and a sub 2 ERA should be on the all-star team. Those are the facts.
If you were going to vote for ANYONE other than Liriano, it should have been Travis Hafner. In fact, both Hafner and Liriano deserved to be on in the first place. Hafner has 24 homers, 70 rbi's, and a .319 BA, .461 OBP, .656 SLG Pierzynski has 5 HR's, 28 rbi, .326 BA, .371 OBP, .446 SLG, and 26 percent CS rate.
AJ wahtever his name is seems to be an attention w**** and a spaz who thinks he's a cool dude. He's getting up there in the David Hasselhoff annoyance meter. Whatever dissappointments he gets is fine by me.
Considering that he's *at best* the 4th best catcher in the AL - behind Mauer, Hernandez, Johjima, probably Pudge and possibly Martinez/Posada - maybe it's you who needs to put less stock in his personality.
Well Pierznynski is in and Liriano is not. That's pretty messed up. And Nomar was voted in on the NL side, which is justified.
however, despite his intangibles. liriano is 9-1 with a 1.99 ERA...there is simply no way to justify possibly the best pitcher in ALL of baseball not being on the all-star team. to me it shouldn't have even come down to a final fan vote, the players and coaches should have put him in. i don't get how he was overlooked with the numbers and performances he has been putting up.
Are they? Maybe he's turned a corner, but his tenure 2 years ago in San Fran - where he basically single-handedly destroyed their clubhouse, was publically singled out by their pitching staff & subsequently dumped for nothing the following offseason - would not support that statement. But there's no doubt that he & Ozzie are 2 peas in a pod. He definitely fits in there. I also find it funny that you tell us to ignore his personal traits, yet you use same as your main basis for voting for him.
Ausmus' leadership and intanglibles are off the charts as well - but no one would even try to argue that he's an all-star player.
btw...after some cajoling from Drayton, Oswalt decided to go & will replace Pedro in Pittsburgh. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/4031119.html
The whole "every team represented" thing is pretty assanine if you ask me. Nobody gives a **** about the Royals.
