It seems early, but voting has already started so, who do you all think should and/or will make the all-star team? Who are you all voting for? Wouldn't this be a sick dunk contest- Kobe Bryant, Vince Carter, Jason Richardson, Steve Francis, Desmond Mason, Gerald Wallace...of course it wont happen 3point contest-lame... 2ball-hope to never see that again Did you all see that article Feigen did about having players represent their cities. Is that actually happening, because that could be one of those things people never stop talking about. If they do, I hope they don't have gay NBA refs ruining the fun and calling handchecks and carrying left and right. Are they going to call techs if you hang on the rim for a half a second. Anyway, seeing philly vs nyc, etc would be very interesting Any other thoughts about rookie game, etc...
I did see that Feigan article. That would be absolutely sick! The Likes of Philly vs. Mo-Town, Chi-town vs. NYC...that would be totally off the hook. Oh please Stern replace 2ball and 3point shooting contest with hometown duels. I'd rather see great, prideful, street-ballin than Karla and whoever win the 2ball and Ray Allen win the ****ing 3point shooting contest again. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My picks for the events: All-Star Starters: (voted in by fans) Western- C: Shaq (...) F: TD (...) F: KG (...) G: Kobe (leading vote getter in West) G: Payton (the trash talking jerk is popular for some reason) Eastern- C: Mourning (not even playing well so far, but voted starter last year despite kidney problem) F: G. Hill (he's back...voted starter last year, playing in 2 games) F: Carter (2nd leading vote getter) G: MJ (sorry TMac, but MJ will be the leading vote getter) G: Iverson (...) Reserves: Western- C: Robinson (who else? Kelvin Cato?) C: Divac (hate him but he's been playing very well) F: Webber (he'll come back in time to make it, not McDyess though) F: Dirk (no snub for him this time) F: Brand (been playing terrific) G: Francis (makes first of many appearances) G: Van Exel (he's playing amazing with McDyess out. Beats out Marbury, Finley and Mobley) Eastern- C: Mutombo (still going strong) F: Rahim (sensational season...50 points last night) F: KMart (playing great on surprisingly good Nets team) F: Walker (quietly having another great season) G: Kidd (despite horrible shooting %, leading upstart Nets) G: TMac (should be starting) G: Stackhouse (beats out underrated players Paul Pierce, Baron Davis and Ray Allen) West wins in close game. Rookie Challenge: 2nd year guys- C: Swift (will play center here) PF: KMart SF: M. Miller SG: D. Mason PG: K. El-Amin Reserves- H. Turkoglu D. Miles C. Mihm C. Alexander M. Peterson Q. Richardson M. I thought the homecities idea was really neat. The only problem might be getting enough cities with enough good players to make it an interesting competition. It wouldn't be any fun if Philadelphia or some other city just dominated all the rest. Maybe they could do it base it on schools. I alternate writing in Kevin Willis and Kenny Thomas on the All-Star ballots. I think they deserve a fair shot. I know you don't mean anything by it, but your pejorative use of 'gay' is offensive to some people, including myself. Not a big deal, nothing personal, but I feel obligated to point it out. I'm not saying I want you to agree with me, or that I expect everyone to be liberal regarding homosexuality. I'd just like people to use the term gay to refer to gay people or happiness and carefreeness, for the consideration of some others who might be bothered by it. Sorry for the lecture on being PC.
Haha, you know what I mean. If the actually had city vs city games, I would want it to be streetball style. no offense So does anyone know if this is happening? chicago, philly, la, nyc, detroit, oakland are 6 teams that could happen, any others???
...as long as we´re talking all-star game improvements... In a few years, when Shaq retires, it's time to do like the NHL. That is, have the US play the world. It'll be uneven for a few years (sorta like west vs. east today), it should be competitive and that's what's missing. Imagine these teams: For the US: PG: Iverson SG: Kobe SF: McGrady PF: Garnett C: Duncan For the world: PG: Parker SG: Peja SF: Dirk PF: Pau G. C: Y. Ming ..or whatever...
I have a mini season ticket plan for the Sixers even though I hate them so I'm gonna try to get tickets to the game and the dunk contest and stuff like that.
I don't think Trent Hassell will be left off...he's sixth in the WHOLE NBA in FG% and top ten among rookies in scoring. It will be interesting to see what happens to the kids when selection time rolls around. The league would probably want Chandler there just for his high-flying antics...thats good marketing.
What they could do during All Star weekend, that would be much more interesting than anything they have right now, is to have an all NCAA conference tournament. Big East vs ACC and what have you. If the All stars wanted to plat they could, but if not, they could just sit.
I hope Eddie makes the rookie game but you have to think Claxton will be on the roster. Kwame Brown is another possible pick as are Boumtje Boumtje and Randolph.
I have tried to vote for the All Stars for the past two days and can't do it. Their stupid 6-character code has been the same for two days in a row and isn't accepted. I always write in Kenny Thomas as a starter. He certainly has more right to be on the ballot than Kelvin Cato! Marilyn
Why doesn't the voting site tell me I can only vote once a day when this is the very first time I've logged on to my computer? I am using Win98 to vote because Win 3.1 won't show the entire page any more. Then when I try to vote using Win98, it still tells me I can only vote once. Why? I never submitted a vote in Win 3.1! I'm getting really irritated with the site. Marilyn
Who else has picked up a stack of 100 ballots at the game and filled them out to get a free T-Shirt? I did. I just stacked 'em up 2 at a time and poked them with a pen. I got it done while watching shootaround @ the Spurs game. Those are nice T-Shirts. The kind the Rockets wear.
