The past few All Star Games have had some pretty crappy contests and gimmicks (i.e. the slam dunk wheel, and 2 on 2 game) ...

I saw this question posted by someone else on a different board in regards to a game that should be played at the All Star Game ...

    How about 1 on 1 ...

    Kobe vs McGrady
    Francis vs AI
    Dirk vs KG
    Shaq vs Yao Ming

People always claim that their favorite player is the best at their position ... well let's let them prove it by letting them go 1 on 1.

    Good idea or not?

It would be a crowd pleaser to see, but i doubt one game of one on one could prove that a Nba All Star to another Nba All Star is better, if they played 10 games i be both would win 5, just would hate people saying well T-Mac sucks because Kobe lost to him 1 on 1. Just my opinion.

That goes for any competition between all stars. Peja won the 3 point contest, but does that mean that he is that much better than Ray Allen. Who knows, maybe Allen would have won the next two had they had a rematch right there.

Same goes for the dunk contest. Francis could win on any given night, but he still hasnt. That doesnt mean he cant perform amazing dunks.

The same goes for the 1 on 1.

I must be the only one who actually liked the wheel. The players today are always being compared, often favorably, with players in the past (Shaq best center ever  .) so they should be able to do some of those great dunks from before. Just because cry-baby Steve didn't even ATTEMPT to do the dunk he drew, that doesn't make the concept a bad idea. It just means Steve can't dunk as well as he thinks. Besides, wasn't the wheel only one dunk out of three?

I couldn't remember who posted it on the other board but at least I didn't take credit for it.

I think it's a good idea by the way.
