hey Francis got more votes than Jordan.

someone actually gave Wally a vote.

btw Smeggy: how many players in the superstar Top 15 played HS and/or college in the US?

Nice to see the Europeans are filling up our 2nd tier star and role players ranks with that 6 of 28 of the remaining vote getters...that's helps strengthen the NBA.

i think that speaks more to the lack of talent at the 5 and the plethora of talent at the 1 than it does to yao and steve respective skill and performance.

Makes lots of sence. Yao is our real franchise player now. Sorry Francis, but your still the man, behind Yao.

francis is the best player on the team. the reason yao got more votes is cause the center position is weak.

It's all about team play, making your teammates better....and winning.

Despite his incredible athletic abilities, SF won't earn the respect he yearns until he crosses these thresholds. Hopefully it will start next year, under the direction of a new coach.

Like Kenny Smith said after the first half of the first game against Dallas- Yao Ming is the best player on the Rockets.

Not to mention there are twice as many starting guards as there are centers.

The center pool's not only shallower, but the water in that pool isn't quite as competitive.

Like stated before, it's because of the competition in the positions. There are Many Many good PGs, not many good Centers!

1. You are assuming that the NBA game is the best basketball in the world. It was undoubtedly true in the past. It probably is still true. But let's see what happens in the Olympics and the next WC.

2. You are assuming that the foreign players have the same amount of time as the US players to develop in the NBA. The major influx of real potentially great foreign players didn't start until what? about 3-4 years ago? What is the average NBA experience in that top 15 list? Give it 3-4 more years and see how the foreigners are filling up the star lists.

Well, you can also argue that there are equal number of PGs as Centers, or same number of SG as the Centers.

You are using guards skill to measure centers, which doesn't make much sense here. Look at this way, if it's so easy to dominate the center positions, why Duncan/KG/Dirk, etc choose to play forward, where there are much more "competition?

There are not many good centers out there, compared to very decent PGs. Yao is one of the good Centers.

Nash doesn't belong up there. Marbury, Steve, or Payton should have that spot.

ironically, Toast, if you rule the shallow waters, the whole pool belongs to you.

What crack are you on? Marbury is "up there", Francis does not know what "team" means, and GP's votes total 14, not even remotely close to Nash.

FA...
Props to Yao, but I don't know if I'd say "just misses". He was next in line for total points to Nash and also the fourth leading Center. But his points aren't that close to Jermaine's at all. Especially that he got 2 first place votes as well. Still, fourth center is a pretty good start and something to shoot for next year.
