All Aussies and any body else in who gets the Pacific Rim and South American ESPN channel, lets all contact them and try to get more NBA coverage on.

Visit here and fill in our request o contact them.

Apparently after loads of requests from fans they have just added Spainish Football

    http://www.international.espn.com/intltv/contact.html

This is what i wrote for example

"Can we please get more NBA on ESPN in australia.

On saturday's we get teased with the friday night espn coverage of double header but only ever get the first game. Why not just show both game instead of one game and then a fishing show and more soccer. Basketball is a more popular viewing sport in Australia than all the NFL and soccer which you show a ridiculous amount of. It doesn't even have to be live, just more NBA........
    MORE NBA Please!!!!!!!

Also can we please get some more rockets games, i know we get the same feed as South America and hence have to get Spurs (Ginobli) and Denver (Nene) games, China is clearly the closest country to Australia, please give us more Yao and the Rockets"

If they show Crocodile Dundee in the US,
you should get Rockets games in Australia.

I'd move back to Oz in an instant if that were possible.

I'm still lobbying channel 10 to bring back at least NBA action.

I'm also lobbying them to bring back WWF.

Don't think that's going to happen.

I sent Channel 10 a letter after they took off all their NBA games and NBA Action, asking them to put it back on. This is their reply...

Thank you for your letter regarding TEN's NBA Coverage.

Unfortunately due to increases satellite rights costs, the Network will not be renewing its ocontract with the NBA.

We have received numerous letters and phone calls from NBA Fans Australia wide and know there are a lot of disappointed fans.

We hope you continue to watch sport on Network Ten.

    Yours sincerly,

    blah blah blah

A pretty standard letter, which I received on the 31st Jan 2000. I sent it on the 19th Jan 2000, so it was a very quick reply. Unless another free to air network picks up the NBA rights, it'll forever be on Foxtel or OptusVision.

CHEAP ASSES!!!!!!!!!!!! They haven't shown NBA in over 5 years!! I wonder whats up with that , why don't another network like SBS take up NBA games.

I sent letters to TEN as well complaining, I never got responses. I guess they think everyone here watches cricket and footy , so that's all they are marketing towards.

Have to get my ******* ESPN then.

here is the reply i got to my email, a nice prompt but disappointing email, we need to bombard them

Thank you for your recent email. We've shared your comments with the appropriate management team for the region.

While we appreciate your frustration, ESPN Pacific Rim network (and all our international networks) hold a separate contract with the NBA than ESPN in the U.S.. This contract only allows our international networks to air the Tuesday and Friday games with very few double headers throughout the season.

While we'd LOVE to air more games, we're contractually obligated to only air the current schedule of games.

    Sorry to disappoint you!

Yeah it sux they only show two games a week here.

although this sports bar down the road from me gets this channel called STAR SPORTS asian apparently and guess which NBA games they like showing... Thats right Rockets cause of Ming.

Cant find a schedule on there website, but they showed the Dallas Houston game the other week.

What if people Video captured the games and put them up for download?

Would that violate any copyright laws?

The sooner Australian Pay TV allows more sports channels the better.

The NBA on ESPN is very dissapointing. The NFL coverage is brilliant though with Fox Sports and ESPN.

I just cant understand why they'd pay so much money to hardly show the NBA. When they do...your either subjected to the lakers or the two worst teams possible.

Its might be an idea to try and get Star Sports on Foxtel/Optus.

In New Zealand, Australian tennis > New Zealand basketball. Right now, they are showing Mark Philipoussis 0-2 down rather than the NZ breakers (literally NZ national team). I'm so pissed.

That would violate copyright laws. Which isn't to say that it's not happening...
