My nephew is taking algebra and I have forgotten everything I learned about algebra as I no longer have any use for it. lol Here is the problem.....

    (4x^3y^-3)^2 (3x^-2y^-1)^2
    __________________________

    (5x^0y^-2)^2 (5x^2y)^2

those with the ^ are exponents like x^3

    i simplified it to

    (16x^6y^-6) (9x^-4y^-2)
    _______________________

    (25x^0y^-4) (25x^4y^2)

    i further simplified it to

    144x^2y^-8
    ____________

    625x^4y^-2

    now after that im stuck.

    1. Did i simplify it right in the steps i did?

    2. How do i further simplify?

dont you needa factor more, and get rid of the negative exponents

    Quotient Rule

    2-4 = -2 = x-2

    -8-(-2) = y-6

You will have to flip or rearrange it some how because of the negative exponents but I'm not quite sure what the end result will be.

That's supposed to be x to the negative 2 and y to the negative 6. Also, anybody with algebra expertise can correct my mistakes if I am wrong.

Assuming you got to this part right:
    144x^2y^-8
    ____________

    625x^4y^-2

    then you do this (144/625)(x^(2-4))(y^(-8--2))=(144/625)(X^-2)(Y^-6)

Anything raised to the zero power is 1.

That's what I posted. I think it (final answer) would be:

    144
    --------
    625x^2y^6

Anybody care to back me up?
